Kainz is on a distinguished road

Big Grin kX is tops!

Heya all, I heard about the project in the May issue of PCW (personal computer world p192), and decided to try it out. I'm a solid gamer, and for the most part truly hate bloatware, like the SB Live! drivers which weigh in at 23mb and fill the registry with a few extra megs of bloat.

Anyways, on a Win2k system with an old SB Live! card, I uninstalled the SB Live drivers only for the installer to fail halfway through *yawn*, so I uninstalled manually editing the registry as I went along. I then tried the installer for kX and everything went fine, MP3's and wav's played nicely but upon running mixer app I ran into the same prob this guy had

After numerous tries, I eventually had to manually install the driver which worked a treat. Got the whole thing working now and am hugely impressed. All I need is the D3D Sound running in hardware to be supported and I'll be real happy! Right now Counterstrike runs like a dog under software d3d sound, no probs there though, I'll try and remain patient until it gets worked on. A lot of non musicians out there who hate CL's bloated drivers are in need of projects like this. Well done!
