I have tried to fix this problem for some time now - but still can't come up with a solution.
I have a soundblaster value - and the kx ASIO drivers - and everything has been setup indentically to the instructions provided in http://au.geocities.com/kxcubase/ the problem is - when i line in my guitar (TO THE BLUE JACK ON THE BACK OF THE SBLIVE) - i only get the audio coming through the left speaker ... i have tried everything including buying a little stereo jack - and running through my podxt and out in L and R fashion - only the signal - only ever comes out through the left speaker???? I don't care if the source is mono - or whateva, i just wanted to be able to play guitar and have the sound come through both speakers. If i plug in the mic in i get a mono source -but it sounds overdriven probably cuz of the sblives own pre-amps. I otherwise love these drivers, and it's great for midi latency etc... but for audio it's kinda poopie, if you can't get a regular stereo (or mono) line in signal going. if anyone can help me - i sure would appreciate it thanks |

just connect the left pin of the source to both left/right pins of the destination, for example prolog 0 to both xrouting in5/6 etc... whatever...

first of all thanks for the quick and prompt reply... i understand you guys probably just wanna release drivers without having people whine all the time about how they can't get it working with their specific configuration....
unfortunatley i tried what you suggested i ran the left ac97 (i assume that's what you meant?) from the prolog to the asio 0 and asio 1, in the epilog - however in windows (no other application running) it still just sounds through the left speaker.... . I think if it was possible to run both the left AND right ac97 prolog to say Asio 0 in the epilog - that might achieve what i'm trying to do,... however that function is impossible. Inside cubase sx, when "monitoring" the signal - i do hear the audio through both speakers... but one shouldn't have to monitor the input in order to get it to act that way... if i'm just in record mode - it only comes through the left speaker. What makes this even odder to me, is as i said before - even with a "Stereo" 2 quarter inch to 1/8 jack and running a true left and right signal into it... i still only hear audio out the left speaker? is there a way to get it - so that when you line-in a guitar into the soundcard, without any application running (like cubase) to have the audio be played back to you throught both speakers? the windows drivers did this. I really just want to be able to have the best of both worlds ... once again thanks for your help it is much appreciated. any other guitar players please speak up about your configurations too - including hardware used to plug in. |

fiddling a bit more - and re-reading your instructions - i realized you meant route to the "routing" not the epilog.. and you are correct if i route the left ac97 on the prolog to the in0 and in1 on the routing bar - i get a nice mono signal... pefect.. thanks
but now - how do i get that signal over to the epilog? because now - although i can hear the nice mono signal i have been after i am unable to route that over to the ins that cubase sx recognizes? or is it simply impossible to have the best of these two worlds? cheers |

well, at first when i sayd "(x)routing in5/6" i mean exactly "in 5/6"..
routing to "in 0/1" makes sence too, but it breaks the default Wave 0/1 + ASIO 0/1 path.. well never mind... so... ASIO? Everything is simple, just look what pins prolog pin 1 (e.g. ac97 right in) is connected (or should be connected in case of special setup) to... and connect ac97 left pin to those pins... (doh, sorry - my eng.) - for example for ASIO recording ( default "stereo input mode") you need to wire prolog 0 and 1 to epilog asio 0 and 1 (or 14 and 15 in case of Live 5.1 - whatever) - now ("mono mode") you need to connect only prolog 0 but again to both epilog asio 0/1 (or 14/15) - well... it sounds too easy to not guess...

man, i would buy you a beer if you lived in my country.. thanks for the help.
i now have mono - guitar audio (perfect) ,... and i can record in cubase (perfect) - however i still have to be [M]onitoring the signal in cubase in order for the input meter to receive the signal - which is odd - but for now i can work with it cheers JAn |

well, it's right, you have to enable "monitoring" to make cubase's meter to work.... also you can maybe use native kx peak-meter... (you can load one through kx dsp and connect it to pins you want to monitor)... (cubase's meter is software one, while kx's is hardware ;)
