SB0350+Vista32 = No SPDIF passthru?

Hi friends,

I know that Vista isn't fully supported yet - even so KX still spanks the pants of the crappy creative drivers - nice job!!!!!

Currently using 3538m drivers and AC3 Filter 1.45b for decoding. AC3 filter shows SPDIF Disabled even though the SPDIF list shows up in the KX control panel - 0 thru 2 and I am actually sending a PCM stream over it to the amp.

Here's the AC3 chain when trying to use SPDIF output direct, it seems it reverts back to PCM...

Input format: DTS - 48000
User format: PCM32 - 0

Output format: PCM32 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000
Use SPDIF
SPDIF status: Disabled (SPDIF output is not supported)
SPDIF passthrough for: -
Use AC3 encoder (do not encode stereo PCM)
Check SPDIF sample rate (allow: 48kHz)
Query for SPDIF output support
Decoding chain:
(DTS - 48000) -> Decoder -> (Linear PCM 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000) -> Processor -> (PCM32 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000) -> Dejitter -> (PCM32 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000)
Filters info (in order of processing):
Decoder:
Stream format: DTS 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000Hz
Bitstream type: 16bit big endian
Frame size: free format
Samples: 512
Bitrate: unknown
SPDIF stream type: 0xb
Frame interval: 1006
Actual bitrate: 754kbps
DTS
speakers: 3/2.1 (5.1)
sample rate: 48000Hz
bitrate: 768kbps
stream: 16bit BE
frame size: 1006 bytes
nsamples: 512
amode: 9
No CRC
Processor:
(Linear PCM 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000) -> Input levels -> (Linear PCM 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000) -> Mixer -> (Linear PCM 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000) -> Bass redirection -> (Linear PCM 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000) -> AGC -> (Linear PCM 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000) -> Delay -> (Linear PCM 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000) -> Output levels -> (Linear PCM 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000) -> Linear->PCM converter -> (PCM32 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000)
Dejitter:

So it seems that AC3 filter doesn't see the SPDIF so disables the option for me to pass the DTS stream to to it.

I also just noticed that VLC player doesn't recognize SPDIF as available on the system either in it's audio options. So although SPDIF is functioning properly it just seems that it isn't detectable by external applications.

Is this just a limitation of the drivers in Vista at the moment? Was there an earlier driver where the SPDIF was visible to other apps?

Many thanks for any help.

Joel
