Well, I restarted my comp. and everything, it's still on 4/5.

But of course the master mixer would be the best - why the h*ll didn't I think of that?!

By the way, I only use stereo speakers myself, so no clue about surround problems..

I put mine on master mixer. I wasn't doing it correctly before, I was trying to change the "device" via the mixer. I did it through the control panel and now it stays.

Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of all the sound artifacts with ASIO.

Hey all:

With .3539, I can't get the ASIO panel to load except in SONAR. Can anybody get the ASIO panel to load via right clicking the kX icon in the taskbar and going to Settings/Asio Control Panel? When I do this, nothing happens!

The worst thing is that when I try to open the ASIO Control Panel outside of SONAR, I lose the ASIO driver completely when I reopen SONAR. I have to restart the PC a few times and/or even reinstall the kX driver to get the ASIO driver back in SONAR.

I can't access the ASIO panel in Vista through the kxmixer. I can only access it via a DSP program I use (Thuneau Allocator). ASIO is working for me, but I get pops/clicks even at max latency.

I'm using Windows XP. It's in my signature.

After a re-install of the kX Driver, I get the ASIO Control Panel outside and inside of SONAR and the ASIO driver is back, for now.

In other words, It's working like expected, now, for now, anyway.

ah, sorry, i have signatures turned off.
anyway, it's up to corrupt install and/or uncorrect resetting (or some not deleted registry entries) at the end.
i installed over 3538m with no problems at all (setup reset what needed by itself)

Indeed, reinstalled and now I do have the ASIO panel back. haven't tried it yet though...is it more stable, less latency?

It took me more than one re-istallation, too.

I have to test the ASIO performance. I was doing that in SONAR when I experienced a drop out, and the ASIO driver dissappeared! I will test again later and come back and report.

please be more specific - what problems are you having? what applications are you trying to use, what driver model - WDM, ASIO?

Hi dj stick,
Im trying to use Nativeinstruments for instance Fm7 and Reaktor and Kontakt at the same time in asio mode. But when Fm7 is open and I try to open Reaktor or Kontakt at the same time, Reaktor and Kontakt says the asio driver is not present or available.

Thanks

there were some major changes to the asio code between 3537 and 3538 - so that could be the cause

generally you would NOT want to use the same ASIO driver in mulitple applicaitons - too unstable

That might speed up the driver but unfortunately some grat Plugins e.g. the ufx plugs seem to not work anymore. Once installed there is a error every time you try to open the DSP window. I had to reinstall the driver to get it working again. Maybe you could release a debug-lib version and a nodebug version until the third party plugins have switched to nodebug.

E.
I mentioned it already here but i Think it's more on-topic here:

-The first problem seems to occure from the moment you first start kx-Mixer (if it isn't in autostart)
It seems that the click is produced if the signal goes somewhere under -80dB
(maybe -96dB because of 16Bit ?) for a few milliseconds. if the signal gets louder, there is a click again.
For me the clicks were gone as i "mixed" a bit whitenoise @-100dB into Epilog just with Wavegen connected to 2Ch StereoMix + the output from the EQ which formerly was connected to Epilog. This produces a bit of unhearable "dither noise" @16Bit which prevents longer periods of the same values near digital zero which seems to produce the clicks. Haven't tried it for MIDI but maybe it works there too.

-The XTRAM issue could also be solved if you use "RightMark CPU Clock" utility and set it to produce HLT instructions while idle. This creates a task (or two for Core2Duo) and shows 100% usage in Win Taskmanager but it runs only on idlle Time and the Performance doesnt drop really. So if you want to use XTRAM effects without rebooting and BIOS setting this might be another solution.

Hope this helped a bit.

One thing that doesn't work for me is to make a dsp setting permanent in kx.-Mixer.
every time it's restarted (e.g. after reboot) it loads the default dsp Settings, even if I have saved the file under kxdefault.kx under system32. I believe to remember that this method worked on my old PC with a SB Live 5.1 .
So is there a way to load kx-mixer with a user setting?

Most plugins including UFX have 3539 versions available. See the Effects and the DSP forum...

Make sure that kx starts with Windows using the appropriate command line switch to restore settings...
i.e. (Run key in the registry)
kxmixer.exe --startup

Well I must say I am truly impressed by this new driver. I have used variations of the drivers floating around since my testing days and found this driver, on accident searching for something else. This driver is perfect and as soon as I have some money in a week or 2 I will donate to your great cause and thanks to all those who have helped develop this wonderful stop gap until some of us build a new system with an updated sound.

Thanks as always,
Kris

Those files were most likely just infected by the virus on your machine.

i.e.
A virus' job is to spread and infect other files, so it does not help much posting the file names of the files that were infected (what you really need to know is which file the virus originated in).

Those files scan clean for me (2 different virus scanners).

btw; i have an audigy 2 zs notebook (sb0530) in conjunction with a ricoh chip 'has problems' and i figured out a decent fix for playin mp3's besides reseting the voices once in a while. Use Foobar2k (or any other player that supports it) and use an ASIO input; that does not cause what sounds like a triangular wave to be played once in a while when the hardware voices get messed up. Hope this helps someone I tried modifying the PCI latency on the PCMCIA card to 248 but it still had issues with 'normal voices'.

EDIT: btw, i have noticed that there is a 'click' when stopping, pausing, etc when using asio in foobar (atleast on my card). any tips for fixing this?
