KX Drivers and Nuendo

Hi I just got the kx drivers as they were recommended to me for recording with a creative live 5.1. The trouble is I have installed the drivers but I cannot seem to record any audio. I am going straight into the line in 2/mic input on the front of the live drive but i'm not getting any output. I have tried fiddling with all the sliders in the kx mixer but i'm still not getting any joy. Can anyone out there help me?

Hi Guitarman,

The way that Kx DSP's is configured by default might not suit your Nuendo Editing needs. But be afraid not! The Best feature of Kx is it's incredible ability to "virtualise" IN/OUT ports on your soundcard thus making routing sound from chanel to chanel as flexible as a fit female ballet dancer ( don't ask, it is just a fantasy of mine ), the sliders on the KxMixer are there to control values that are represented by your DSP Setup.

If you want a quick demo of the power of the DSP follow this:

1) Go into the Kx DSP and clear the DSP Setup
2) Create a new instance of a Prolog And an Epilog ( Prolog are your SoundCard Inputs, Epilog are your Outputs )
3) Attache virtual Patches between 8/9 pins of the Prolog ( Line2mic L/R on your Left Drive ) to the Epilog 0/1 pins ( Sound Out FR/FL )
4) Go into Kx Mixer/Inputs and Outputs
5) Enable/Unmute MIC2/In, and adjust the levels
6) Make sure your output are not at -inf or desactivated or your f/r swapped and your speakers are pluged in the front
7) Speak into the MIC and you should hear yourself on your speakers :-)

That is of course the most basic Setup there for your Line2
You can add afterwards a Gainer, an EQualise, Echo/Reverb or any DSP plugin like you feel using between the Line patches and speakers out. But beware, this wont let you record your voice or send it to Nuendo, since the MIC Input is being directly routed to the speakers, you should instead rout it to an ASIO channel and configure Nuendo's Input's as the channels you just configured, you get the idea.

Edit: Check Kx documentation for further help on configuring Mixer/DSP

- Install the 3531 kx drivers. use the default routing. Btw I'm using the SB0060 model live platinum 5.1.
-Make sure Kx Asio driver is selected in nuendo.
-Enable ONLY the needed VST Inputs in the ' VST Inputs ' window in Nuendo. ie.(kx In 04/05,kx In 10/11,Kx In 14/15)

inputs

ac97(mic) > kx in 10/11 (IN 11/12)
lin2/mic2 > kx in 14/15 (IN 15/16)
Aux2 > kx in 04/05 (IN 05/06)

outputs (use KX OUT 04 for front speakers)

Kx ASIO 0/1 = Front & Rear outputs
Kx ASIO 4/5 = Front outputs
Kx ASIO 6/7 = Rear outputs
Kx ASIO 8/9 = Centre/Sub output
