??? multiple soundcards, multiple in, multiple out?

Hi,

I have a SBlive platinum (CT4760 10k1) and a sblive 5.1 (sb0102) installed on my P4 with kx driver 3531.

1) i would like to record at the same time with all the input of the 2 (or more) soundcards, each on a different track of cubase.

Is it possible? how?

2) I would like to assign each asio output of each track from cubase to each analog output of the 2 (or more) soundcard (in order to connect each track from cubase to a "table de mixage").

Is it possible? and how?
(i heard something about connecting the soundcards with spdif, is it true? please give me details...)

Hey Eugène, an help doc about all the possibility of multiple souncards in the KXPROJECT.COM site would be very interesting and usefull...!

1) Yes, you'd have to connect both cards digitally. This can be done internally using the pins supposed to be used with the live drive (search the forum for the right pins). 2) That would only be possible if one of the cards were used as a plain MME device, and not ASIO device (only one ASIO card can function at a time in Cubase). But you must remember that you have eight independent outputs available in each of your sblive cards, so you can route a bus to one of those, another one to other etc.. Use KX router for that purpose and the KX dsp window for setting up. Also, check versions 3532b because it's the best one up to now with support to multiple soundcards (or wait for 3532 final).

Can this be done with Audigy and a SBLive combo?

Does anyone know if these drivers will work with a Gadget Labs Wave 824(discontinued)?

Yes, it can be done with a live + an audigy. Works the same way as with 2 lives because the pin-out is the same.

??? ...connect both cards digitally

I know that the CD spdif out pin is n°17 on my sb0102 5.1.

1)Now, must i connect it to the cd spdif on the pci card (the problem is that i don't know which is the + and which is the GND) or to my rca SPDIF in which is on the live drive of my CT4760 10k1?

2)If it works, must i connect one of my input (Ac97 ) of my sb0102
to the SPDIF out?
And i will recept it into the prolog spdif of the CT4760 that i will connect to the asio input of my choice...
Please correct me if i am wrong.

3) If i understood well, connecting both cards by spdif add on the second card one and only one new input.

4) Are the input TAD, CD in, and Aux_in on the PCI card analog input or digital input?
If they are analog input can i use them as line in to connect synthetiser, drum machine or other?
If it works i think this solution is better than connecting digitally another card(Unless i understood nothing to all this).
What do you think of this?

5) DANIEL DRUMOND said me there was eight output in each Sblive.
Do you speak of analog output or asio output? because me what i want it is the more analog out as possible..

Thanks to those who will answer me.

1) Yes, that's one way to do it (connecting to digital CD input in the PCI card). Try plugging it one direction and invert it if it doesn't work. I did that and didn't fry my board. But there's another way to do it also. Check those links to figure it out:

http://people.freenet.de/apslive/digital.html
http://www.rvs.uni-hannover.de/people/einhorn/spdif/

2) Yes, that's about it. Turn the LINE IN volume up in the "slave" board and you'll get its signal in the other board just as you have described.

3) Yep, only one input.

4) Only the DIGITAL CD IN (or SPDIF IN) is digital Others are analog. You can find this one because its input connector is the smallest one.

5) Yep, 8 discrete analog outs. 2 through the front speakers. 2 from the back speakers. 2 from the headphones output (if you have a live drive) and 2 using analog center and analog subwoofer outputs (which may be used for other signals).

Good luck.

There is no analog center and analog subwwoofer on the CT4760 with the live drive
(it is the soundblaster live platinum before the same in 5.1).

But i also own a SBlive audigy player (not installed for the moment). If i connect the live drive of the SBlive platinum on the SB Audigy player, will it work well without any problem?
