3532 release candidate 1 :)

3532 release candiate 1 (rc1) is out

http://kx.maincore.nl/kxdrv3532rc1-update.exe

changelog [since 3532-b]:
Added a 'kX/Mixer/EnableBalloonTooltips' registry option ['on' by default]
Fixed bug with APS SPDIF Recording levels*
Fixed bug with kX Synth volume
SPDIF Direct Recording option added for 10k2-based boards**
Fixed bug with B2B V2 plugin
Added support for Foobar2000 player (kX RemoteIR)
Added support for Windows Media Player (kX RemoteIR)
Added support for WinDVD Player (kX RemoteIR)

full changelog: browse the forum: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthre...threadid=14339 and http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthre...threadid=14197

notes:
full GSIF support won't be implemented in 3532 final release, but, probably in 3533
spdif frequency issue is not solved yet (well, actually I cannot reproduce it -- seems to work fine here)...

* APS SPDIF recording level was invalid: although it provided 'gain' feature, it was set incorrectly in the DSP. the present implementation assumes that playback and recording levels of D1/D2 inputs (both on 'ins and outs' and 'recording level' pages of the kX Mixer) are equally scaled. if you really require 'gain' feature - add a gain plugin to the DSP.

** SPDIF direct recording provides unfiltered/unresampled recording of spdif signal. it doesn't go thru 10k2 effects engine and interpolators, so, no quality loss occurs. the only supported format is 48000/stereo/16bit. both coaxial spdif and cdspdif supported. this feature won't be available for 10k1-based cards (a hardware feature)

RIV@NVX will become famous soon enough
System Specs

1. new installer (introduced with 3532) has problems with Windows 2000. It installs the devices in the Device manager, but not ones under Control Panel\Sounds and Audio devices. Manual installlation is required.

2. another problem in Win2k - Settings\Setup buffers - drop down boxes don't work.

3. not OS-dependant - after installation, on first start it says: "Error registering soundfont support", and it never happens after that.

4. sliders on Main mixer page are not moving smoothly as on other pages.

New version is working fine here with no problems detect until now. I have not experienced any of the problems described by Robert or Rivanvx, except for the "sliders not moving smoothly in the main page". WinXP Pro with SP here.

exclamation SystemTray Icon in Double

Hi Eugene,

Thanks a Million for the EnableBalloonTooltips regKey, but it doesn't work like anticipated :-/
The style changes from ballon to square, but if you disable the "EnableBalloonTips" in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Advanced" the tips still wont show up. So while the visuale style has changed, the engine that drives it didn'r, and it is still dependant on that registery key being enabled.

As other users reported, i have the "Error registering soundfont support", but it is present every time you do a "Reset Global Settings". But if you say it can be safely ignored for now. It is just a bit annoying.

Another thing, the double Icon on "Reset Global Settings" syndrom is still present, but since you didnt mention it in the RC1 change log, i guess it didn't make it to this version.

Will keep you posted for more findings

3532 rc2 is out

fixes:
-------
sfman registration messagebox
EnableBalloonTooltip registry flag
spdif frequency for audigy/audigy2
'reset global settings' icon fix

notes:
--------
the installation package is incomplete (in order to minimize traffic)
it lacks some .dlls and .chm files found in the 3532 rc1 distribution

url:
-----
http://kx.maincore.nl/kxdrv3532rc2.rar

installation:
---------------
unpack to the 3532rc1 folder ('Program Files\kX Project\3532')
(overwriting any existing files)

run setup.exe

to check:
-----------

windows 2000 issues -- I am unable to reproduce them...

according to my personal observations, the RC2 release seems to be very stable
the users are encouraged to install it in order to help tracking any bugs / issues
the faster we finish 3532, the faster we start 3533

>> ASIO Window graphic is partially transparent

you mean 'Asio control panel'?

>> how to use the remote with media player

only the latest versions of media player are supported
(the one that reacts to 'ctrl+p / ctrl+s' short-keys)

also, you might need to activate the player's window manually (with your mouse )

Yes, ASIO control panel, when selected in Cubase for instance, has some transparencies (actually gets "skinned" with the images that were under it when I open it).

ASIO Control Panel

Eugene: The effect in the ASIO control panel window is like you handled WM_ERASEBKGND by just telling Windows you handled it but without erasing anything.

Joey, how do you intend to use GSIF support in WinXP? I thought it would only work in WIN98...

Does that mean Gigasampler and Gigastudio will work in winxp, or that only GSIF is available?
