KX for Asio Audio..Cool!

Using i2s to record vsti direct to audio
Ive successfully repeated the instructions given on the website http://au.geocities.com/kxcubase/
and yes, a vsti running will accurately record to an audio channel But - its suggested that the i2s codec has better sound then the ac97 side, and when I tried that on my box it did sound better. For some reason the ac97 speaker outputs sound phased, not as clean as the aps drivers on my 98se partition install. (im using a live 5.1 card) THE QUESTION IS: when I try to route the signals from the i2s input to the asio 14/15epilog, there is no recording on the audio channel, and ive tried to enable all the appropriate switches. HOW CAN I GET THE I2S CODEC TO RECORD DIRECTLY TO AN AUDIO CHANNEL IN CUBASE? thanks

No Audio to digital converters in i2s?
The help file said that only the ac97 side (front speakers jack) has analog to digital converters......could that be the reason for i2s not routing to an audio track?

You'll only use I2S codec to record in Cubase if you have a live drive. But, if what you're trying to do is recording VST instruments, you don't need neither AC97 Line in nor I2S inputs. Just select your VSTi channel and the secion in the music you want to transform into a regular audio channel, go in the FILE menu, EXPORT, AUDIO MIXDOWN and enabled the option to load the export into a new track. Your VSTi will be converted into a WAV file and opened into a new track.

the i2s ADC connector (analog-to-digital converter) is available on very small number of cards
it is labelled 'i2s' and is located on-board in general, it cannot be used however, it is available directly from the aud_ext connector i2s 'output' is a different case the codec is connected to the 'rear speakers' connector and is present on most live/audigy cards /Eugene |
