audigy - silent center

i have a sb audigy (sb0090) and when set to 5.1 all speakers except the center work. does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this? thanks in advance.

settings:
hardware acceleration is set to full and the windows speaker settings are on 5.1.

it's connected to the sub-woofer (logitech x-540 speakers). the sub is connected to the soundcard via 2 wires, one to the front jack (green), and one to the rear jack (black).

one other wire is left unused (from the sub to the soundcard) for the center channel, however, this is the setup specified in the user manual for the x-540 with a 4-channel sound card.

You need that third wire connected. Your card is a 6 channel model.
