I've just changed my setup so that I use 6 separate outs to my analog mixer.I notice that when using fonts that in most tunes worse in some less in others if I isolate the bass there is snap, crackle, pop going on. It was just sort of masked before I guess.
I've gone from 3538m back to L and back to m. Setup different DSP layouts etc, etc. I've monitored directly from the card with headphones with the same result. Is this just a problem with some laptops? are there computer settings to try. I fooled with the buffer settings etc. I've swap fonts. I tried all the normal stuff I can think of.

If it's on bass, maybe it's simply slight clipping (too loud at some stage). Try lowering some sliders along the way or check level meters. Maybe even a soundfont can be badly programmed and with many sounds can overload the synthesizer???

No I've tried everything. The mention of the bass is misleading. If I isolate just the bass I can hear the noise more clearly because of the vast difference in frequencies however it is on everything. I've swapped fonts etc.
I also use the same fonts, same OS same KX setup on my desktop SBLive 5.1 with no problems. It's got to be an issue with the PCMCIA buss. |

Have you rules out effects as a possible cause (i.e. xTRAM issue in A2zsnb bug thread)?
i.e. Clear DSP. Load FxBus and epilog only. Connect FxBus 2/3 to the epilog speaker connections that you want to use and see if you still get the noise. |

Russ,
Thanks I do still get the noise. Don't think it means anything but my lappy is one of those that needed the alternate kx.sys file in order to install. |

Did you disable all network devices? I had problems with PCMCIA cards when I had network device enabled. Anither thing migh just be the mother board itself. One card I used worked fine on a desktop, but would not play well on my notebook, to I sent the notebook in for repair, and it seemed that some boards worked okay, but some not. Good service from ASUS BTW.
