You have hook up headphone in your DSP to make your head phones to work.

Are you using the default DSP config? The default DSP config should have the necessary connections in place...

As far as I know, you should not have to do anything in the DSP...
Make sure the headphones are connected to the correct jack. Make sure that the Master volume control knob is not muted. |

I've installed creative drivers to check that the problem is not hardware. Headphones work with it.
I really don't know what to do... ![]() 3rik |

I do not know, it would be helpful if someone with the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro could reply (and confirm whether the headphones work for them with kX, etc.).
Aside from the above: Verify that the Headphones volume slider on the Ins and Outs page of kxmixer is not muted, and the volume level is set to an audible level. Verify that you see a signal on the 'peak' plugin in the DSP when testing the headphones. Does the External I/O module thingy work (with kX), other than the headphones (inputs, etc)? Open kX's 'About' Window, click on the 'Copy to Clipboard' button, and paste the copied info here. Last edited by Russ; Oct 24, 2007 at 01:56 AM. |

Just to clarify, when you say "I can't manage to have sound when I plug my headphones", you mean that you are not getting sound from the headphones, right? (as opposed to headphones working, but you do not get sound from the speakers when the headphones are connected).
Aside from the above, I do not know... kX appears to have detected the External I/O box, and you have said that you are able to use MIC2 with kX, so we know that it is working with kX (at least in part), and that the headphones work with the CL driver, so we know the hardware/cabling should be OK. The DSP (default config) look OK... Again, verify that the headphone volume slider is not muted (Ins and Outs page)... Maybe try a "Reset Device Settings" from the kX settings menu... I do not think the fact that you are using Vista should make a difference, but I am not completely sure... Again it would be helpful if someone else with the Audigy2 Platinum Ex (SB0360) could reply and verify that it is working correctly for them with kX version 3539, etc. |

Yah i had the same problem with mine, Could not get the headphones to work. You have the external box which you are using to connect your headphones too? Thats how I had mine set up and couldn't get the headphones to work properly. I could get sound through them but it didn't sound right. When I checked headphones in the control panel window it said that something wasn't found or set up properly. Been a bit since I tried so I forget what it said exactly. Long story short, I went back to Creative drivers and they worked perfect.

I used .3538 and .3539 and the headphones worked for me. I never had a problem with the headphones not working, but I used a custom DSP setup consisting of all ProFx plugins and I connected my headphone to the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro External I/O Hub.

Thanks for the reply Thomas, I had thought that you had one of these cards, and I did not remember you ever mentioning anything about having a problem with the headphones, so... I do not know, I am out of ideas...

@3ric
You mentioned that the 10BandEQ is not working for you in another thread, and the only reason I can think of, as to why it would not work, is if you are not getting any signal out of the front pins of Surrounder (in which case your headphones would not work either), so, again, please verify that you see a signal on the peak plugin (double click on the peak plugin to open the GUI for it) in the DSP when you are testing the headphones. If you do not see a signal, then please let us know what device is set as the default device for sound playback in the Windows Control Panel, and/or what device is set for playback in whatever software you are using to play your audio. |

In any case, only certain kX Wave Devices are routed to the front speakers by default (with the default DSP config), so if the wrong device is selected, then you will not have sound sent to the front speakers (rear speakers when Swap Front and Rear is enabled) or headphones (and the 10BandEQ only filters the front audio). I would suggest choosing kX Wave 0/1 as the playback device in both the Windows CP, and whatever software you are using to play the audio (if the software allows you to choose which device to use). |

Well,
for playback I can choose Master Mixer, Wave Out 4/5, Wave Out 6/7, Wave Out 8/9, Wave Out HQ in the Windows CP... I have no "xx Wave 0/1". I use Winamp 5.5 for playing my favourite MP3 3rik |

Hmm, I am not familair with Vista, and I am not sure what Master Mixer is (I would guess that there is some way to configure what device is used by the Master Mixer, but I do not know...), and I am not sure why Wave Out 0/1 is missing, but you should also check WinAMP's config (WinAMP preferences: What is set as the Output plugin, and how is it configured?).
Wave Out 4/5 should also work, as it is routed to the front speakers in the default config, so you can use that for testing the headphones, but it will not upmix 2.0 audio for you with the default config (plus other possible issues). Hopefully someone that is more familair with Vista (and understands how kX works) can tell you how to configure the Windows CP, etc, but in the mean time use Wave Out 4/5 to test the headphones (and 10BandEQ). |

Thank you Russ !
I have chosen Wave Out 4/5 as default in the windows cp and now both eq and headphones work ! the only issue is that it doesn't cut sound from my speakers when I plug the headphones, but it is not really a problem Thanx once again 3rik |

I am glad that it is working for you
![]() Wave Out 4/5 is not the best option (but is usable), Wave Out 0/1 would be better, but unfortunately I am not sure what that translates to in Vista (maybe Master Mixer?). |

In the Windows CP I have changed back to "Master Mixer" as default (assuming that "Master Mixer" is "Wave Out 0/1") and it still works... I mean I can see a signal in the Peak plugin, and th KX 10 Band EQ works too... 3rik |

Load another peak plugin and connect it to FxBus 0/1 (top 2 pins of the FxBus plugin) and see if you see the signal there (you want to see the signal there). |

kX Wave 0/1 (Wave Out 0/1) is multichannel capable (I am not sure what this means in Vista, since there is no DirectSound, but...), and under the default DSP config, it is the only Wave source that can be upmixed. Also, under the default DSP config, it is the only Wave source that is routed through the default effects (reverb/chorus). BTW: I do not take WaveHQ into account here as its operation is a little more complicated. |
