volume & mute keys

Hi, I’m from Austria and I signed in to start this thread.

I know that it’s a so called new feature, that the windows mixer does not work anymore.
“kX does NOT use the windows mixer, you'll need to use the kX Mixer” DJ Stick
But kx USED the windows mixer in the past… it worked, so what?

I don’ t even care about this, BUT I want my volume & mute Keys back, NOW AND FOREVER!
Not the kx multimedia keyboard, the keys from the intellitype or whatever software.

After installing version 3539 i thought it was a bug, it acted like a bug and even smelled like a bug, now we know it’s a new feature.

I’m sorry, but I don’t want this feature, thank you.

subset,

I have used kX for several years and the recording portion of the windows mixer never worked with any of the versions. I find creating my own DSPs with kX much easier than messing with the mixers anyway.

Hehe, well, strictly speaking, it's windows mixer who uses kx driver (not in reverse).

I agree with this.
Well, this "feature" is a price for Vista support (and actually it could be improved with newer kX versions (if any) - as it seems there are some mix-ups in driver topology -> "small mixer bugs" )

But, well again, v39 has nothing new except Vista support and some AZSNB make-ups - so if you are not about these two, just do not torture yourself and install 38m or something

@ Doug W
I use the kx mixer too (and I don’t mess with the win mixer), but I need a basic functionality to get the keys from my multimedia-keyboard to work.
What I do not understand is: for years intellitype and kx had a peaceful co-existence (hit the mute key…muted) now with 3539 hit the mute key…nothing happens.

@ Max M.
It’s a Vista feature? No problem, my os is xp.
For Vista “features” in xp I use WindowBlinds…
And about going back to 38 something, same old story and the future is pride…

>What I do not understand is:

Some of important internal components of kX driver had to be changed to make kX's ASIO interfaces to work under Vista. These changes included a modification of the so-called "topology" (an interface through which the driver exposes some of its intenal structures to external components - including those used by windows mixer). And some parts of this topology got broken (particularly those responsible for master mute/unmute).

>It’s a Vista feature?

No.

>And about going back to 38 something, same old story and the future is pride…

I do not understand what's so sad about this. If you can install something that functions better (for you) isn't it a "new story"? Why to care of some stupid numbers?

So i installed 3538 again.

This seems to be the new trend:
For Vista support it's ok to give the xp users a sucker punch.
