CT4670 and CT4830 won't sync
Greetings,
Either one of these cards, CT4830, CT4670 works great recording digital audio alone. When I use 2 mixers to try to record to separate, simultaneous stereo tracks the tracks, on playback are out of sync. It know that sound cards have their own timing chips and will therefore not work together unless whipped into shape. My question is for those of you using multiple sound cards with the KX drivers: What can I do to get the audio recordings in sync? Is this accomplished by: KX drivers? ASIO drivers? Sequencing Software? Pure Luck? Faster CPU? Voodoo? My computer specs are unimpressive but I have been recording with this computer for 4 years and it works fine: MOB: FICVA503+ CPU: Cyrix 330 RAM: 196 Meg OS: Win98 SE Hard drive: WD 20gig 5400 RPM Sound cards: Creative Labs CT4670, CT4830 Drivers: KX 3531 Software: Power Tracks Pro Audio (non-ASIO compliant) I am going to inherit my son's 1 Gig CPU motherboard in the near future since he upgraded to some hot machine recently. Thanks for the drivers and for any help with this question. Doug W |

Connect the cards digitally internally and them you can use only one card for recording (the second cards inputs will be available in the first card, throught the digital input).

So when you say connect digitally, I connect SPDIF out to SPDIF in and then the 2nd card (SPDIF out card) will be controlled by the SPDIF gain on card 1 KX mixer...is this correct?
If the above is correct, is there any advantage in using either the CT4670 or CT4830 as the controlling card. Thanks for your time, Doug W |

Yes, you got it You can use the pins that are supposed to be connect to a live drive and a internal digital cd cable to accomplish that. Use the card that has "gold" connectors. But I really see no differences.

I seem to have it working after a fashion now. I tried playing a short bit with acoustic guitar in one sound card and a mic in the other. I recorded 4 mono tracks (2 of the guitar, 2 of the voice). They all seem to stay in sync. Now I have to fiddle around some with the DSP or something. The acoustic guitar is sounding a little strange-like artifacts are being introduced (a ghost chorus or something). I will try to figure that out.
Thanks again |
