SB0090 (Audigy Platinum + Frontpanel)
Hi folks,
i have some trouble getting the Front Panel / Drive bay /whatever it is called to work... i just installed the latest kX driver, everything works, except that front panel. There are no lights coming out of the optical outputs as well.... so iīm not sure. Do i have to install any other or specific driver to use it besides kX? I though installing kX would be enough for both the card and the panel..... Can anybody help?? Besides this i have an unknow PCI-Device in my sys config. Cant install any drivers for it. Does the front panel/live/drive-bay show up as an extra PCI-Device??? PLEASE HELP Thank you!

EDIT: Okay, sorry for my stupidity... forgot to connect the power plug -.-
the other problem seems to still exist. still i dont know what that unknown PCI device is. to my understanding the only possibitliy is, that it is that front panel / live bay / drive bay- thing. but does it really need an extra driver ? (i installed kx 3539) just tried plugging a headphones into the phones jack... not sound just a little noise if i turn it up really loud... :-( |

Hmm - my live drive works as expected, headphones, Aux2 & Line 2 & COAX inputs, remote control etc... so - I suspect: 1) the plug between the card and the drive bay is not right (off by one pin is easy with mine) 2) the live bay is hosed. Post the kX ABOUT info - so we can see if kX detects it. edit / I am assuming you didnt turn down the headphone output in the kX Mixer Ins and Outs page... Im pretty sure its at 100 by default. and that when you say 'turned it up' you were talking about the knob on the front panel /edit |

let me guess... you bought the livedrive separate from your sound card?
IIRC - the LIVE DRIVE 2 is for 1ok2 cards - you are showing a LD1 for a 10k2 card, I dont think they are compatible, but Im not certain. edit: heres what mine looks like.. ----Hardware / Software configuration--------------- Driver Name:kX Audio Driver (Debug) Driver Date: Jan 22 2007 03:57:56 Driver Version: 5.10.00.3538 - debug DB Name:LiveBay2 SB0350 10k2 [b800] PCI Information: Device: 41102 Subsys: 20021102 ChipRev: 4 Card is '10k2' Card has MPU device Card model is '5.1' Card is Audigy2-compatible Card HAS AC97 codec Codec name: Unk AC97-codec [83847650] 3D Extension: SigmaTel 3D Enhancement Codec is 2.0 compliant Capabilities[6a90] : -headphone out- DAC resolutions : -16-bit- -20-bit- ADC resolutions : -16-bit- -20-bit- Ext Capabilities [605]: -var rate PCM audio- -slot/DAC mappings- Port: b800 Irq: 0x7(7) Playback buffer: 1ff8 Record buffer: 1000 Number of AC3 buffers: 6 Tank memory: 2048 kb GSIF buffer: 1024 samples OS version: [2 5 1 Service Pack 2; 2 5 1 Service Pack 2; 156 148] pretty sure they are not compatible, but a forum search would probably confirm it.. |

This thread seems to indicate the pin outs between the LD1 and LD2 are different... so, it would seem a custom cable would be need to make it work..

Mhh, no iīm totally confused:
iīve seen this quote in an other thread: "Live and Audigy cards use (AUD_EXT) where as Audigy 2 cards use (AD_EXT) to connect to the front bay drives" So i got an Audigy (Version 1). My Bay HAS an AUD_EXT connector, however the cable that i have for it wasnīt connected there - it was plugged to "J5" ... the AUD_EXT connector on the bay seems to be little to no different than the J5-plug. (Just 2 pins are exchanged as far as i can see) .... here are to pictures: http://www.prodyon-virtual-gear.com/snap1.jpg http://www.prodyon-virtual-gear.com/snap2.jpg Any ideas? :-) |

live drive 1, 2 IR and the audigy drive should all be interchangeable along the live/audigy 1 series, it's onlt the audigy 2 series that are incompatible - so your drive should be working
i don't know what the J5 plug is at all, but to get the drive bay working with the audigy card, you need to connect the AUD_EXT headers together

J5 appears to be the connection for the internal SB1394 (Firewire) cable.
It seems your are completely missing the cable for the AUD_EXT header (maybe your friend forgot to give it to you?). Quote:

and old 40 conductor IDE lead should work (don't use the newer 80 conductor ones, they don't work)
