Audigy2 Platinum Pro "noise cure" question

I have read various threads regarding the random noise problem with the partly supported Platinum Pro. I have just installed it in an XP driven PC and noticed after driver installation the reported white noise. One of the threas suggested removing/reinstall the FireWire cable which seems to be used to power the external drive box, and that actually did the trick.
My question goes: can I expect the cure to last (during a multitrack recording) until the next power on, or has anybody experienced that the noise returned during a recording session?
Thanx Frost

System Specs

from what i understand, the noise is due to initialisation problems, but once initialised without the noise, it should not return
