linking ac97 line-in to window mixer's pseudo line-in
hello
it should be possible to link that window mixer's pseudo line-in (added for better compatibility with tv tuner software) to any kx mixer's slider using kxctrl ... (it was mentioned in changelog) i would like to link it to ac97 line-in, so i could control it's volume from my tuner software (original sw with leadtek winfast tv2000 xp deluxe). could you help me how to do that? i haven't found anything about it in the documentation. thanks |

the ac97 input is connected to Line-IN by default
try tweaking it via sndvol32 (Windows Mixer) note that the slider's position isn't updated by kxmixer, so, you might need to re-select 'ins & outs' page in order to see the changes if you wish to assign the line-in control to any slider, run kxctrl: kxctrl -shw 9 <kX DSP plugin id> kxctrl -shw 10 <plugin register #> note that register numbers are -logical-, you may need to run 'kxctrl -mp <plugin_id>' in order to get the register number well, it's not so easy at the moment to tweak the assignments ![]() /Eugene |

thanx for the reply eugene!
i did some test and this is what i have found: it is really connected to ac97, however it only works with default dsp layout. because of that nasty via southbridge bug i'm suffering from, i have to use only prolog, xrouting, surrounder, timbre, peak and epilog in dsp. with the default layout, it does affect what i hear, however with ac97 input muted out, i can still hear the tv (like if it's goint to the output twice ...). muting out linein in ac97 tab would fix it. with the limited layout, it does nothing ... i would need to link the linein slider not with ac97 input, but line in on ac97 page, but i'm not sure if it's possible or not. |

you cannot connect the line-in to a AC97 slider located on the AC97 kxmixer page
note that in general you should keep all the sliders on the AC97 page 'muted' and simply select the 'ac97 source' to the desired source. use 'ac97 in' slider on the 'ins & outs' page for changing the volume /E |

the VIA bug doesn't depend on the amount of uploaded effects, but on PCI traffic
some effects require XTRAM access, which is actually stored in your system RAM that is, the effects require a lot of PCI transfers if you unload -these effects only-, you should minimize data corruption (for instance, Reverb Lite uses XTRAM) you can check if the effect uses XTRAM by clicking 'Info...' in the KX DSP also note that unloading ReverbLite & Chorus should not affect the ability to tweak ac97 slider via line-in (provided you haven't re-initialized and / or cleared the DSP) /Eugene |
