kx AND original drivers on the same system.

Hi

I need to know if is possible to have both original SB Live 5.1 drivers AND kx drivers, installed on my system at the same time?

Is it possible to choose in an easy way, which one of them my card will use?

I do not care if I have to reboot every time.

Thank you.

I *think* this can be done if you use hardware profiles (right click My Computer - Properties - Hardware Tab)- then each time you boot - windows will ask which hardware profile to boot with.
Then boot to one profile - install kX.

But I never actually tried this with KX. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can confirm or deny this as a possibility.

No, you cannot have 2 drivers installed for the same device at the same time. If you had 2 Creative cards then you could have kX installed for one of them and the Creative driver for the other, but you cannot use both for only one card.

Using Hardware profiles will not work either as it only cares about the hardware and not the driver.

The closest you can get, is to install both drivers, and to change between them you would have use the update driver option in Device Manager and browse to the correct .inf file for whichever driver you want to use (this can get messy).

that's what i thought at first, but it doesn't work

the hardware profiles option was designed for back when you would dock a laptop into a desktop station - utilising different hardware in each configuration - it can't be done using two drivers for the same hardware
