with KX u get ASIO
in Creative drivers u don't. That's only one (very important) reason why u should use the KX drivers. ; |

What about sound quality ?
I have done some RMAA testing and KX seems and sounds better, just one little thing, to me it sounds like there is some loss of bass, or i am so used to creative's exaturation. Either way, kx is on my 'puter. (i have 2 channel output, so i know it's not the phase thingy, bass is there, just it's somehow "colder") |

well...
i love the kx drivers for the ability to record multitrack - with one card i guess that isn't an option, but chain some (cheap) cards together and.....

Lemme see...
Real independant output channels No signal loss due to creative's drivers internal sound amplifier/resampler (or EAX for that matter) Complete control over all in and outputs Complete control over the DSP chip Complete control using midi over ALL aspects of the driver/card Faster, Smaller (but not Simpler :-) Internal ability to route each and every audio stream to anywhere... (the allready famous swap rear/front thing) and better, it's getting better and better, and already is on allot of points much better then creative's drivers (maybe except multichannel/ac3 things and games) |

I can record 6 simultanious analog inputs with my 1 soundcard!!! (SB Live 5.1 with livedrive)
Now thats a great option for musicians! The 1 negative i can think of is that u don't get the cool eax reverbs in your games. Is that possible in a future release ??? cya. |

By the way, anyone of you havin' success running two audio programs requiring ASIO simultaneusly (e.g. Reason + V-Stack) with a SB Live 5.1. I didn't, when I try to run the second program (no matter who's first) I get the following message:
Error creating imput buffer #0: error = -2147084809 [size = 4096] GetLastError()=2 E_INVALIDARG: Too big latency and too many channels -- resetting latency -- Retry? Tried any latency setting (from 2.33 to 21 ms), tried running first Reason than V-Stack, tried running first V-Stack then Reason but still no luck, and it's a big pity since I'm forced to use just one program at time 'cause I just can run the second program with MME Drivers whitch are pretty unusable for latency matters. Do you know if I could solve this problem adding a second card ? ![]() Or is it just a matter of Router/Mixer setting (whitch I'm not really familiar with) ? ![]() Pleaaaaasssseeee help Arceo |

make sure you select different inputs and outputs in your ASIO applications
also note that in general it is recommended to set Cubase to stop recording/playback when its window is inactive. /Eugene |
