kx drivers & Audigy 2 ZS Video editor SB0480 supported?

hi guys,

I checked kX Project: Knowledgebase: kX Soundblaster Compatibility List, but can't find my Audigy 2 ZS Video editor SB0480 .
the idea is to use the ZS with different mp3's on the 3 7.1 different analogue line-out 's.

thx!

Hmm - you may need to just give kX a try.. I see something here that makes me think it may work to some degree..
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor: At A Glance - Reviews by PC Magazine

I have an Audigy 2ZS and kX works wonderfully (SB0350) - and that has 7.1 outputs right on the card (not on a IO box). The card does the 24/96 stuff too.

What jacks are on the card? - Is the IO box just a 'breakout box' - and use standard 3.5mm Jacks to connect between the Sound card and IO box, or is it a different cable/jack between the card and IO box?

I dont recall anyone else trying that model before.

well, that doesnt tell me what I was asking - probably, the *Card* is the part that would work with kX if at all - It is my understanding that the connection from the PC *to* that IO box is a USB cable (but Im not certain) - if so - it is likely none of those connections on that IO box would function with kX (but possibly could still use CL drivers along with kX - but I suspect not). But - if the card has all the same connections any other A2ZS has - kX *could* function as it does for my A2ZS (not 'Video Editor' version)

So, bottom line and in other words - if kX *does* work with your *card* - and there *is* only a USB cable connection between the PC and that IO box - it is likely that IO box will cease to operate with kX.

But, if the IO box - has multiple analog and digital audio, IEEE1394, and USB cables between the *card* and that IO Box - it is possible that IO box will continue to function, even if partially.

I dont know how better to explain my thought more clearly.

No external card will ever work with kX, only PCI / PCMCIA cards, as I understood...

Hey travel rec... while what you say is true - the product description says it combines a A2ZS *with* what sounds like a USB connected IO box... ??? But I see nothing that clears this up (it could be used like a sort of extension cord for all the IO from card/PC, to make connectivity simpler to do, instead of crouching over to plug into the back of the PC frequently..??) -or if the card is a 'typical' A2ZS or not.

Hi Maddogg6?

Well it's a pure USB 2.0 card. There is not other CL card in the Laptop, just the USB connection to that box where all components are sitting.
So reading from your explanation, I guess it won't work

I think it will try to find another laptop & install the kx driver (only?) there to see what it gives.
Then deinstall & install Creative drivers + kx & bid again...
damn damn damn...
thx

Ahh - ok, so I take it that this is the typical 'mis-leading' CL marketing crap then:
Quote:

....

If so - then no, kX will not work, if *all* it is, is a USB connected device.
But that sentance, used the word *card*. ??
Sorry for the confusion.

If there is a real A2ZS inside, then pull it out and insert it into a real PCI slot on your MoBo. If you have only a Laptop - then sh*t

hehe - My mis-understanding was: - there are 2 pieces to that Video editor model - a A2ZS (as in the PCI card) *and* an IO box. But the hint was in the very sentence I quoted... so, I have doubts a PCI card exists in the external box - I would be surprised anyway...

not likely - kX *only* works with select PCI cards - and the A2 NZ notebook - which is a PCMCIA card... not likely that any *usb* devices will ever work with kX. But there are other SB PCI cards that dont work either also.
You are best to get a card listed on the compatibility list.

Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!

And since you are using a laptop, the only option would seem to be the A2ZS Notebook (if you need to use kX anyway).

Aside from the above, does the CL driver for that model include ASIO support? If so, then you should be able to use ASIO to do what you want (I would think anyway (assuming that the CL ASIO driver exposes all the outputs.)).

Damn...
in fact I new the answer already, but had forgotten that I had switched on Digital only to have DTS decoding externally....
In that case, the 3 audio outputs are disabled...

So... By just choosing No SPIDF output & using mplayerc, eg. sending 3 different MP3s to the front/rear or center/sub I get 3 different streams! (disabling cmss or I hear them through each other).

Now.;.
Is there a command line parameter or reg key or other to set the spdif out or not,so I could use it easily in scripts or other?

thx

Are you asking about the SB0480 with the Creative driver?
If so, you would probably better off asking in the Creative Labs forum.
