gsif almost working

Installed the latest set of drivers, Set up gigastudio running on 98se. gigastudio recognises the gsif driver, but when you try to assign the midi port the kxcontrol driver appears in brackets as being already in use. after el mucho driver,program and system installs and tweaks. The culprit that was using the midi driver turned out to be KXMIXER.
I shut down the mixer, the kxcontrol driver is now present and free to be used, after assigning port 1 and 2 midiports, the keyboard icons in gigastudio turned green (showing its ready) but no midi activity could be sensed, despite
much hammering on the keyboard. I enabled a mpu401 port on the motherboard selected it, but still the same problem.
I am posting this to save you all alot of time as it seems in order to get the midiports on the soundcard to become available to gigastudio you have to shut down the kxmixer.

you don't need to unload kX mixer -- simply don't use 'kX Control' midi device in your software
this interface isn't intendent to be used for 'input', but for 'output' only
and kX Mixer is the only application that should open 'kX Control' for reading (that is, 'input')

On opening gigastudio and going to settings I find the following options kxuart and kxcontrol, Now I understand iiiii.I cant use kxcontrol, but is kxuart the midi input on sblive dplug, it does not respond to any keyboard signals, there are no other midi devices listed, to get round this I enabled the mpu401 port on the motherboard and used this again. no responce to keyboard, installed logic audio and both dport on sblive and mpu401 on mainboard are triggering it. removed kxdriver and installed apslive, gigastudio now working using directx driver and midi for aps. with kx installed and Mpu401 enabled I have the following devices, kX 10k1 Audio-Gameport, kX 10k1 Audio-Model CT 4760, Mpu401 compatible, of course because giga sees the gsif driver, it stops any use of the directsound. Still no midi action in gigastudio, am I missing the proper midi driver??????. Thanks for your quick responce to my first post , if you need any beta testing, I have a triple boot pc running 98se, 2000 and XPpro. amd2000 k7s5a 256ddr, these posts I have made are on my 98se boot, which I use for musak.
