For me the sound gets somehow different (as said it's just swapping the front with the back of my boxes) I figured out that my hs "sound cable" functions as my boxes aswell which is very strange. I plugged out the cable (green) of the boxes themselves and plugged the hs one into that green slot. Actually I should be able to hear the sounds coming from my Headset but instead it's coming out of my boxes, what the.. Normally (as before) I'm able to listen to stuff on my pc through both boxes AND Headset but yea, now it's only the boxes and even the hs serves for them lol. On some models, the codec used for the rear channels is better, thus the swap front and rear option. Whichever setting you use, just make sure your speakers/headphones are connected such that it matches the setting.
Also, make sure that use use the Speaker Setup applet in kX to set a speaker mode that matches the number of speakers you have, etc. What type of headset do you have and how is it connected to the sound card? Some headsets have a switch in order to switch between the speakers/headphones, so check to see if you headset has such a switch (and/or any (hardware) volume controls)... If you connect speakers to the same jack (on the card) and the speakers work, but the headphones do not, then it would seem to be a problem with your headset, and not any kX setting. |

I have 5.1. Just plug your headset into the BLACK hole on the card.

I'm using a Logitech one (not the USB one).
Well, the phones used to work before I reinstalled XP (don't tell me it suddenly got broken Oo.. but it's possible..) The mic of my HS works just as fine as always. Hs is plugged into the "black hole" aswell (no sound at all). -- --> I guess the problem seems to be my headset Oo.. The thing I can't understand is why my hs functions as one or two of my speakers here when I plug the hs cable into the green slot (the one which actually plays the sound through the speakers) It seems like there are routing problems(?) I'm not quite sure! Edit: Figured out something.. It seems like only one of the two slots are working at the same time (black and green at my soundcard) not quite sure Why. Whenever I swap the rear stuff the only working slot is the black one which normally is for my HS (it doesn't even matter which cable to plug in, speaker (green) or headset (black) - always the same sound coming from the same speaker.) But when I don't swap it the Green slot starts working (lol Oo) and same case here, both cables work on this slot for the same speakers but the black one seems to be deactivated.. There should be some problems with some kind of settings I think.. |

As an example : I also tried the normal Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Driver and chose the Option 5.1 : fine, everything worked except the headset (surround with speakers..) when I switched to the option "Headset" it seemed like some of the speakers got deactivated and still like 2 of them are running. There must be some routing probs or something similiar to this! |

Again, if Swap Front and Rear is not enabled (not checked) then you should connect your headset to the green jack, otherwise connect it to the black jack.
The kX Speaker setup applet (Surrounder) should be used to setup the number of speakers you want to use (in this case, at least 4.0, if you want to use 2 speakers and the HS at the same time). You will also need to enable one of the Surround modes in Surrounder (in this case you probably want to use COPY mode, so that the same audio is sent to both the speakers and the HS), if you want output from both when playing stereo only audio sources. (kX is set to 2.0 mode by default, which means you will only get audio from the front jack, or the rear jack, depending on the Swap Front/Rear setting). |

The only problem is that none of both work for my hs, instead giving the sound to the headphone, it adds it to the speakers. Hope you can "imagine" this. |

Sorry, it is not clear (to me) what you mean (a language issue I guess)...
With my headset: My headset connects to the sound card's front jack (as well as MIC In). My front speakers connect to another cable coming from my headset (base). There is a switch on the headset (as well as a volume control), that allows me to switch between the speakers and the headphones. It sounds like you may have a similar setup (thus why I brought it up), but again I cannot be sure from your description of the problem, so double check your headset for any such switches. |

Uhm, alright, let me explain it like this :
In general I only need 3 cables : The red one which is for my mic The green one for my speakers And the black one for my Headphone Since the soundcard is marked with colors there shouldn't be a big problem to find the right "holes". Well, the mic after all works perfectly. The green cable for my speakers work aswell (for the speakers only!) Fine, just the black cable (headphone/set) doesn't work Properly! - The prob is : Normally I should get output (sound) from my headphone through pluggin this cable into the "black hole" but I just don't get anything. Now I figured out that the sound which actually Should be coming from my headphone Is activated on my speakers. Means that BOTH cables (the green one And the black one) serve as speaker sounds. One for the "front" and one for the "back" I guess that's how it's called. And that's why I think it has something to do with routing stuff. |

Ok, and if you swap the positions of the cables, do you still hear sound in your speakers, or do you now hear sound in your headphones... or do you not hear anything at all?
Aside from the above: Which version of kX are you using? What is the specific model number (SB0xxx) of your sound card (i.e. what does it say in the bottom right corner of kxmixer)? Have you made any changes in the kX DSP window, or are you using the default DSP config? Please verify whether you have used the kX Speaker setup applet on the Main page of kxmixer (as opposed to the speaker properties in the Windows Control Panel) to set the speaker mode to 4.0 with the Surround mode set to Copy. (i.e. You told Maddogg6 that you had not tried it... and it is necessary) Do you have another set of headphones that you can test with, or another pair of speakers? If you can verify that all of the outputs work correctly without the headset, then that would indicate that there is a problem with the headset (or cable) itself. 1. Yep, still hearing the speakers. It doesn't even matter which cable I plug out. For some reason both are required for all speakers to work.
2. kX Version 3539 3. SB0060 5.1 [8c00] 4. Haven't made any changes. 5. Well, same thing with 4.0 nothing different at all. 6. Yea, it Actually works but I cannot explain why the hs cable serves as speaker outputs. For example : The speaker cable gives me the "front" sounds and the hs the one from the rear instead of giving me the sounds Through my headphones. Edit: Not quite sure if that's something to do with it but the middle speaker and the subwoofer don't give out any sounds in the "kxmixer Test" // wrong settings? NVM guys, I got it WORKING NOW YEA
Guess there were some probs with the drivers (reinstalled everything) and it's working ! Thanks again for your help! (Is it normal that the Subwoofer and the Middle speaker doesn't work in the Option "Test" ?) // is there a way to have all the "speaker output" for my headphone? means front left right middle rear left right and subwoofer. Sorry, there still seems to be some missing info that makes it hard for us to know what you want to do.
Please verify for us how many speakers you have (from your description, it sounds as though you have only 2 speakers, and a headset (MIC/Headphones)). i.e. Quote:
The Surround mode setting in conjunction with the Speaker mode setting does up-mixing/down-mixing. If you want all channels to go to your headphones, then you should use the 2.0 Surround Mix preset, and if your headphones are connected to the black jack, then make sure that the Swap Front and Rear option is enabled. Note that you (normally) would have no audio from your speakers under this setting (with headphones connected). If you want audio from your speakers too, then you will need to use a custom DSP config. As to whether you should hear Center/LFE INPUT: It depends on the Speaker mode/Surround mode setting and/or how many speakers you have, and whether the audio source has a Center/LFE channel (and whether you speakers can reproduce the frequencies used (i.e. LFE)). The audio does not (normally) bypass the DSP, but you may not see it on a peak meter because the length of the audio is fairly short (compared with the timer used by the peak plugins). Try it using the UFX:PeakX plugin and you may catch a glimpse of it (also pay attention to the peak levels shown and not just the graphical display). Last edited by Russ; Feb 1, 2008 at 07:20 PM. |

In kX Mixer main page - change 'Swap Front <> Rear Switch'....
and make sure windows is configured to use 5.1 speakers... if that still doesnt fix it, and you are for certain using the default DSP config... I am lost... |

What speaker system do you have?
How is your speaker system connected to the sound card? - Verify the connections between the sound card and the speaker system (you should have something connected to both the front and rear jacks of the sound card), and the connections between your speaker system and speakers (if applicable). Make sure that you are using "kX Wave 0/1" (as the default device in the Windows Control Panel, or as the selected playback device in your audio application), and that Surround is enabled (set to "On" or "Copy" mode) in Surrounder. Make sure that the volume sliders for front and rear on the "Ins and Outs" page of kxmixer are not muted. Try clicking on the "Reset AC97" button on the AC97 page of kxmixer. |

I have a 4.1 system and a creative sound blaster live in 1024.
The speakers are connected to the subwoofer, and to the 3 colored entrances. When im listening to music, only the front left and right speakers play it, the rear left and right speakers are working bcause i can hear a Very Low Sound almost mute coming from them when i play music. |

One more thing, in the surrounder TAB, i put 4.1 and ON, but what values do i use in the VCenter A, VRear A, VRear W and VRear D. I noticed that the sound changes when i move the sliders but i cant really notice the differences.
