Help with Installation on XP (newbie)

Hi,

2 weeks ago I forked out £170 for an Audigy 2 Platinum Ex. Since then the only sound I have heard out of it has been the windows startup tune, and that was using the KX drivers. Unfortunately as soon as that tune played, it crashed.

I have tried every setup i can think of with the Creative drivers, but cannot get them to install.

I then discovered the KX drivers and thought my luck had changed. But now I can't get the KX drivers to install! If I run setup, it crashes when trying to install the drivers. If I try and install manually in Safe Mode, I continually get asked for files from the Windows Driver Cabinet, including ksuser.dll, ksproxy.ax, ks.sys, etc. I have tried getting these from the XP installation disk, searching for them on my hard drive and pointing the driver setup in the right direction, and just plain leaving them out. The best that happens is that I get a short crackling sound and then my computer locks.

I tried a clean install of XP (ACPI) and the ran setup for the latest version (3532?) which crashed during installation. Tried to install manually in safe mode and was asked for the same .dll files.

Can anyone help?

Also when setup installs, it sets up the 10k2 0280 - is this the correct driver for the Audigy 2 Platinum Ex?

And how do I install the "PCI input device" - I assume this is the gameport...

Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I am severely fed up now...

Thanks,

Adam

you seem to have a serious hardware problem

pls try to remove any kx drivers by running kxsetup and selecting 'remove'

after that, reboot and install Creative drivers

if the problem is still there, you may need to solve the hardware conflicts (if any) and make sure that your audigy2 ex card isn't damaged

after you manage to make Creative Drivers to work remove them and install kX ones

/Eugene

p.s.
it is ok that windows asks for the mentioned .dll files - they are required for WDM support

p.p.s.
'it crashes' is really not sufficient to understand the nature of the problem
try to provide us with more details...

Can't make Creative Drivers work!!

The problem is I can't make Creative drivers work in the first place! As for the crashing - the whole thing locks , no mouse response, no response to Ctrl - Alt - Delete - only way I can do anything is to hit reset. Have tried leaving it for an hour but no change. What should I do if I can't get the Creative drivers to work?

it looks like a damaged soundcard

i had near the same proplem to install the kx3532 on an P4 2,4gh system. during the you will be asked about the ksuser.dll ! i had this file on the HD in the winnt\system32 directory but it says, this file is not ok and i have to install it from the disk ??? i found this file in the directx9 cab and after extracting on HD i said during the next installation the path to the new file and after that everything was working well.
