A plugin to enlarge basses ?
Hello back,
What a change in this forum look, it is much better; ) I was wondering if there is any plugin to enlarge the basses sound. I have tested the "more bass" plugin but it makes the hole sound more wide and not only the basses. Is there any other possibility ? Many thanks in advance for all your great support. p.s : i am using the 3539 drivers on win xp SP2. |

you can make a sort of multiband compressor with lo/hi pass filters and a couple of compressors... just be aware that if 'look ahead' (like in dynamics processor it effectively is a delay) is applied to either, it should be applied to both equally or weird phasing can occur.
lo pass > Compressor > mix bandpass > compressor > mix (optional) hi pass > Compressor > mix set high pas and lo pass freqs around the same say 200 - 500 Hz - play around with adjustments to needs.(or optionally, a 3rd band, set freqs to slightly over lap, depending on Q or 'BW') Its not as convenient as a single plugin multiband comp. but I have done it with pretty good results. and of course experiment with different EQ/filters (timbre maybe or Max's 'P1' Eq's) Last edited by Maddogg6; Feb 28, 2008 at 03:14 PM. |

is so brainless..

Seems to have sense to use crossover&compressor chain
>>i did not found Hi/LO Pass or Compressor somwhere in the DSP. rightclick->APS->Compressor(+) ->crossover |

Also - no need to use the compressor+ - use the APS/Compressor instead - the + adds side chain inputs, and are not needed in this case. There should be a bunch of 'EQs' - and more if you get Max M.s plugin pack. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/effects-...iform-ufx.html Theres a few 'Px' Eq's - and it re-skins the Timbre & 10 Band Graphic EQ - as well as adding a bunch of other plugins too. |

I just configured the equalizer to almost the highest values for the first sliders and loaded "timbre" plugin and dragged bass slider to 9.7, that provided me suitable and nice deep bass for my headphones.

You do not need the x4 and div4 plugins since you are not using the APS Compressor. Also, I am not sure why you need the Stereo Volume plugins, nor why you are using epilog_old instead of epilog...
Aside from the above, play around with the EQ P1 settings. Try increasing the gain and/or frequency and see if you can find a setting that you like. |

Sorry for the very late response i have been busy a lot.
I made the exactly same setup as you have configured http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/...73a5f0ec6g.jpg I am looking to add a more deep and very very wide bass. I uploaded a MP3 with in the first part a song with very large basses and in the second part the same song player with my current setup. Maybe do i change something about the COmpression configuration, i have tested many EQ and Filter but still, it is not something which is really impressively making basses larger. If you think also to anything in other application as soundforge, cakewalk........ don't hesitate to propose. I am really sorry to be so boring with my questions and i really thanks in advance for have reading all my post. |

A compressor by itself is not going to boost the bass, it is only going to limit the dynamic range of the signal. You need to add some sort of EQ in there to boost only the frequencies that you want (and maybe try attenuating some other frequencies so that bass stands out more). If you want to do multi-band compression as Maddogg6 suggested, then you will need to use multiple bandpass filters and multiple compressors.
Aside from the above, try the EQ P1 again, as in your previous post, or the 10BandEQ, or the EQ LowShelf plugin, and play with the frequency (try somewhere between like 80 and 300 Hz), width and gain settings to see if you can get a result that you like (but filtering can only do so much, results will vary depending on your speaker system, etc, so you need to try different things to see what works best for you). This is more what I thought I described... http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/9...complexch2.jpg A little simpler, but you have a little less control: http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/339...dsimplerj7.jpg Even simpler but least control - just boost/compress the lows: http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/446...simplersp8.jpg Also note - any 'predelay' will have adverse affects - if you adjust that for one compressor - set it to the same setting in the other setting - different values there will have an un-controlled filtering effect, or at least its not going to be obvious. Youre best keeping it set to 0.0 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() :ta ste:![]() ![]() I have tried until now only the simpler schema and it works already good but i will certainely also try the complicated one. Screenshots are really detailed and that is really helpfull The only thing which i am unable to found is the MX6 module, i have checked 2 times in the hole list of effect/plugin without succes. Is this a standard module or can i obtain it somewhere else ? I am a happy person ![]()

I am making a little up because i got another little question.
Is there any way with the APS compressor to kill or nearly completely reduce the aggresive part of the basses which is generally between 150 and 250 HZ ? I have tried the 3 excellent proposition of KX schema above and on most songs it really help and also improves the quality but some songs got high peaks of basses, i don't know if there is something which can be done so that automatically these peaks are highly reduced ?I don't what can be done, any idea is welcome ![]() Thanks in advance

Run a low pass filter into APS compressor to 'even out' the dynamics of the bass.
SOURCE > High Pass > Mix Input COPY OF SOURCE > Lowpass > Compressor > Mix Input You (almost) effectively have 'Multi-Band Compression' - Which can do exactly as you ask. edit: I think I already said this - look at my pics.... you need to lower the OUTPUT GAIN on the low band compressor. (Maybe raise the threshold too, and maybe raise the RATIO) http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/446...simplersp8.jpg Play with the adjustments - its fun ![]() You may need to adjust the crossover to be able to affect *only* the freq you wish to compress |
