Settings for headphones listening on Audigy 2 Platinum eX?

Firstly, thank you for reading.

I'm listening to music only via headphones which are plugged in to the external rack of the Audigy 2 Platinum eX.

Currently in foobar2000 the music is being resampled to 48khz and I'm using the kernel streaming plugin at 24bit since i've read that this is the best overall configuration for most audigy cards.

But i've read somewhere that there is a DAC converter in the external rack only for headphones (or maybe for some other output too, but this is irrelevant here).
This seems to be true, because if I go to the p16v settings in the kX DSP panel, the sound in the headphones is affected ONLY by the 10k2-SPDIF Outputs link, and not by the regular 10k2-I2S Outputs link which is used for sound out directly from card.
This would mean that the digital sound data is carried to the rack and converted there. Right?

There is a dropdown box in the main view of the kx settings for the SPDIF frequency with the 44.1, 48 and 96 khz settings available. Is this even relevant to this issue?

I can't find any information about the DAC in the external rack though.

I'm really lost at this point. Should i use 44.1kzh and 16 bit, or 48khz and 24 bit in foobar2000? Or maybe some other configuration.

Any info or recommendations for settings is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.
