AC97 giving me an annoying hum...

I'm trying to record through the line in with AC97 in the KX Mixer... but there is a high hum noise. Oddly enough I've noticed that it goes away if I click down the scroll wheel and scroll up and down through web pages. What can I do to get rid of this stupid noise?
