Surrounder Surround not working
Hi all,
I love these kx drivers (3541) and am using an audigy 2 + 5.1 analog speakers. In the past couple of versions however i cannot expand stereo to use four speakers like I used to with the surrounder. I have tried wavehq and master mixer devices, I still only get stereo sound from 2 speakers instead of the desired 4. Am I missing something? |

Are you using Vista? If so, see the following:
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/bug-repo...bus-0-1-a.html Only audio from FxBus 0/1 is upmixed (with the default config). You could as a workaround connect FxBus 4/5 to the top 2 pins of xrouting (instead of where it is currently connected). The only problem with that is it will also upmix 3D Audio that should not be upmixed (so you may want to use 2 different configs, one for when you are listening to stereo only audio, and another for multi-channel audio (games, etc)). Fantastic, that seems to do the trick..
On last problem if anyone has any tips, is speed. I know these drivers are not designed for games and thats fine but I seem to lose 25% of game performance with these kx. I just tried a timedemo in quake 3 and drop from 292fps with the horrible creative drivers, to 224 with the kx 3541 ones. What I tried was totally removing any plugins from the dsp area but nothing seems to change the performance. It is something I could live with but if there is any obvious settings I could change to get me close the performance of the creatives for games, it would be amazing!! I might try moving from wavehq to other devices to see is it wavehq that is causing such a drop. |
