Hello everybody ,
I'm new around here and i find your project "sweeeeeeeeeeettttt"(cartman rulez)
I have read many guides but i still have two questions.
My soundcard is SB0092 10k2(audigy)
1) Is it possible to record "live" from the line in AND the mic in at the same time? i mean i want to record with my ASIOhost two different inputs that come out from the AC97.what i want to do is to record a guitar(line in) and vocals(mic in).i know the basics about the DSP but i can only record the mic in OR the line in.
2) What is the "AC97 <--> I2S routing mode"?
Thank you all for making these drivers better than the "original" drivers.

I have the same card and it is possible. You need to enable the AC97 - I2S routing mode and choose mic; on the ac97 pulldown menu on the ac97 tab. Then you need to unmute the line in in the ac97 tab (keep mic muted) and put a prolog lt in the dsp. the thing selected in the pulldown will come out of the ac97 feed on the prologlt, and the unmuted items will come out of the i2s0 feed. Route those to asio (or an mx8) and your done.

And there's something else i wanted to ask ....
i would like to record an elecrtic guitar and some vocals.
could someone plz suggest what effects/plugins should i use ?
i want to record the song "hey you" from pink floyd.
i will be recording two guitars from line in , vocals from mic in and a VSTi drum.
p.s. except the DSP effects/plugins i could use and my asio host plugins(chorus,compressor,delay,flanger,phaser,rev erb)

An external amp for the guitars and preamp for the vocals is always best, but if you don't have them, then a gain/compressor/noisegate/tubesound combo for the guitars works. I'm sure there are better combinations (others will know these better then me). However, To record it, you can always try to record the most dry signal you can get and do postprocessing with vst/rerouting through dsp. That way you have most control over it. You can always split the signal into a dry feed to record and a wet one with th drums mixed in to play through headphones for the vocals (be sure to keep latency down or sync up the signals afterwards with a constant offset).

@mata hari: you are right about the recording procedure(i must first record dry signals and then do the post-processing) but since we are not professionals we will try to record the song at once.
something else that came up now, if i have a monophonic signal(1 channel) and i want to convert it to stereophonic signal (2channels)which DSP effect/plugin should i use?
is PAN the right one?
Is there any guide that has the basic information about effects/plugins,what every plugin does or doesn't do??
i have searched but i haven't found one yet.And i don't think it's something difficult to be writen IMO. Just two lines for every plugin.

To convert mono to stereo, just pull 2 wires from the mono signal to the stereo inputs (you can attach 1 output to multiple inputs, but not multiple outputs to one input, there you will need a mix plugin). About a basic few line guide for the plugins and options in them would indeed be handy for first time users. I'm not aware of such a guide existing.

just something i found:
for me the unmuted items comes out from the i2s1_l and i2s1_r, in my case the line in.just mentioned it in case someone else is trying to do the same thing with me.

something else came up and i need your help:
right now i have 2 inputs in my soundcard.line in + mic (seperated channels)
is there any way to get more inputs from my card(AC97 in 2 , Line2/Mic2 in , aux2 in)?
i read many other threads but i didn't understand a lot
my card is SB0092 10k2.

Not without aditional hardware. You can use some schematics on TravelRecs site for analog to spdif and analog to i2s conversions to get another 5 or so inputs through the aud_ext connector on the card.

ok, according to this Build a second analog input for your Audigy-Intro i should get another input from aux in.
i haven't understood yet if the new input is mixed with the mic into the ac97 but i will give it a try to find out

results after 4 hours of hard work :
1) aux in never worked
2) the smoke of the melted metal gave me a gift : headache
3) my 15 years old soundcard just died. rest in peace.
Final conclusion :
Real life doesn't have the option "connector size --> large"

the 15 year old card is your Audigy or another one you hacked up for the project?

Oh wait - The SBLive came out in 98 and the Audigy in 2001 so your 15 year old sound card death had to be intentional homicide.

If you did not fry your SBLive card, it should work, might just need to do a little more tweaking in the DSP. That link to BUILDING THE AUX input is missing some updates, for some reason the ISP puts doubles of things in wierd places so one version does not get updated.

Well i really don't remember what model was my oooooold soundcard.
but the card volunteered for the greater good(in our case the greater good is my good).
My audigy card is OK.Running happy and creating kx effects.
so indeed it was an intentional homicide.
the old soundcard gave its last female jack 3,5mm connectors.
the project was good.the idea was better.the excecution was bad.really bad.
In a place of 1cmx1cm they had too many connectors.No human hand could handle this threat.
i plugged in my third bio-mechanic ultra precision hand.
gave the right latitude, longitude, and altitude.
The heat was enormous.my third hand started to shake.in a matter of seconds its DSP started to reinitialize by itself.i knew that something went wrong but i kept trying.then the unexpected happened.My own hand pointed its sharp nails against me.i pulled the AC plug but the condensatore was still full.i screamed for help.i was alone in the room.a voice echoed.i turned around and fall off my bed.i woke up.

I almost cut up a good sound card for this like the article showed but ended up modding the front panel mic and headphone jack positions..... My case had places for them, but no jacks, I stole the jacks from a scrap unit and soldered them into place and ran the cables to the sound card. Worked great!

No flames either!

Just to set the record straight, I don't encourage the wanton destruction of working sound cards. I have sent all my old working sound cards to good homes. The card shown in the instructions was always a dud.
I still have a working 8 bit sound card in fact so if there are any computer collectors out there who want to provide a home for an 8 bit Zoltrix sound card for their 8086 let me know and I will send it to you. I have gotten rid of all my old computers.

Also I do mention that the sawdust generated by cutting into these cards is pretty strong, not a recommended inside job. It will give you a headache or render you sterile.

The card in question was believed to be dead, I should have clarified that, it didn't work with available creative drivers but does work with the KX drivers..... sorry I wasn't more clear. It is actually in use now.....

If something works I use it. If something is dead, I use the parts.... I don't throw out much of anything, as you can probably see from my list of computers.

i've never been one to be brave enough to cut up electronic equipment, so my solution was to re-pin those audio brackets that used to come with most motherboards - worked fine for my dual card system - i'm pretty sure i posted it in the general discussion forum as "quick guide: get more inputs" or something like that
