why i can't use my MIC?

I installed kx audio driver(full) 5.10.0.3541
but when i tried to use my mic for a online chat,i found it didn't work！

why?i have actived 'mic in' option in AC98 panel,and aslo related 'recording' panel.

any help will be pleased

btw,my system is winxp sp2 + audigy es.

did you set the 'AC97 Source' dropdown on the AC97 page of the kX mixer to 'Mic' ?

Can you hear the mic in your speakers?

yes,i did.

i can't hear anything while i'm speaking to my mic
