gsif support wasn't tested for win98se, but for winxp only
I'm afraid we won't be able to focus on win98se support (mainly because there's VxD driver available from Nemesys), but anyway, if we get enough input from our users...

Thumbs Up! 3533 rc1

Hi, I am new to this forum but not new to the kx drivers. I have been trying them out for sometime now off and on between these and the creative ones. But more to the point. I have installed this latest release and other than the same issues with soundfont names and program numbers in cubase SX, the drivers of this release appear to be rather stable on my system. There are no BSOD's when opperating gigastudio on my system as of yet. From open to close the program is stable at this point. I have increased the number of VSTi's and effects in my project since using these drivers as upose to using the creative ones. They shouldn't even call it the creative labs audigy anymore.. and change the name to KXAudigy If you guys ever got into the graphic card driver programming...

Im running Windows XP Professional on an Aopen 63pro board.
PIII 600
SB Audigy or might say KX Audigy card
320 megs of ram
Cubase SX and now Gigastudio

Keep up the good work.

My stystem, WinXP, also seems very stable with GigaStudio and Cubase SX. However there's noticable latency in Gigastudio - not much, though - I guess it's approx. 20 ms. Also I experience some crackling, when running SX and GigaStudio, although SX just plays MIDI tracks into GS.

Keep up the good work - it really is amazing

Eugene :
3533 is great! thanks!
But there is a few phenomenons I still do not understand.I at merges to record sound an a form SONAR project discover the record front-panel MIDI Synth control over 40 recorded wave file is have clip,But the wave recording control then has no effect completely!0-100(My sonar project Include the MIDI soundfont sound with the wave sound) Moreover, I feel the voice quality that record with directly PLAY Sonar project have inferior to.
I hope that Eugene's KX Drive can make my audio card become more for profession!

GSIF

Ok, here goes the bug report
Sometimes when starting gigastudio it hang up my computer on the splash screen.
But others, when it decided to pass from there it run, sounding well, but consuming all the resources even when idle (99%, making even the redrawing of gigastudio and the whole OS reaaaaally slow)
And also the instruments take way too much time to load (like 2 mins for a 50mb instrument and 10 mins for a 600mb gig)

Anyway, making progress congratz

AMD Duron 1300 - 768mb ram

I have a problem that I think may be unique from what I've seen people say so far.

I've only now started using this product, and I'm liking it. I had no trouble with '32, nor with the '33 beta I downloaded earlier. With this RC however, I only get sound from my center speaker - that I don't even have. In the sound test I only hear sound when the center speaker is tested.

Before the Kx manager is initialised, at the system boot-up, my Windows boot sound sounds just fine. My speakers just go mute as soon as the manager's started. Anyone knows if I'm doing something wrong? No earlier version did this.

I think 'reset settings' should solve your problems
(the default routings might get changed)

Well...
It appears that in Cubase, when BOTH Midi inputs (kxUart AND kxControl) are enabled, the sound of midi playback is poor (bass and high frequencies disapear).

I'm really sorry for the wasted time of your investigation, it was just a bad use of your excellent work !

this is rather strange...
but, anyway, "kX Control" device used for -input- is for internal use only (by kX Mixer)
"kX Control" should be used for -output- in order to provide 'automation' feature

Unable to use Gigastudio Win98

Hi, well things are progressing - I've got the KX drivers to work, soundfonts DO load (they just take longer, I will ahve to be more patient ) and I'm getting the hang of it...

However...

I read in the FAQ that Gigastudio was not supported in win98se. Or, the option, was to download a patch for gigastudio for WDM support. Is there anyone out there who has faced the same issue (IE: patch gigastudio?) I really want to give the kx drivers a try (now that I've gone so far getting them to work), but I just can't sacrifice Gigastudio.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

to run gigastudio in win98se requires no patch. It runs with any wdm based card. Just read their compatability list on their site. There is already support for gigastudio in the newer drivers for KX. I would suggest an upgrade to get better stability as well as more soundfont power....
