SB0060 Problem
Guys, I've been using the KX Drivers for years now with just my headphones connected to the analog front jack. I recently bought a new headphone and connected it to the analog rear jack of my sound card. I then changed the settings in the kx DSP window by routing the front left and right after the surrounder+ and timbre to the following input of the epilog:
front left and right, rear left and right, center and subwoofer I understand that this would allow me to duplicate my stereo source for 3 pair of speakers by connecting it to the 3 analog jacks. And it did. But there was a problem. When I tried to listen to my new headphones and used the speaker test, it played the usual sound but gave a very ugly cracking/popping towards the end. I then connected the new headphone to my usual front analog jack and performed the speaker test again, thinking that the headphone might be damaged but it sounded perfectly fine and the volume was louder. After that, I connected the new headphones to the center/subwoofer jack and performed the speaker test again. It gave exactly the same ugly sound as my rear analog jack produced. And compared to the front analog jack, the volume is not as loud. What do you guys think is the problem here? Why is my rear and center/subwoofer analog jack like this? By the way the PC is quite new and I just opted to use the sound card instead of the onboard audio. I tried installing different versions of kx drivers but the problem was still there. Is it my XP? Or is it a hardware problem? Some failing capacitors near the analog and center/subwoofer jack? Should I replace all of the caps? I hope someone can help me. And by the way... Thanks Eugene for creating the KX Drivers. |

AFAIK, the front is the only jack with a headphone amp...

And I only notice the cracking or popping sound in the rear and center/lfe analog jacks when I increase their volume in "Ins n Outs" page to 12dB I think. When it is lowered to the default 0, the cracking sound disappears.

OK. I've decided to buy an Audigy 2 ZS card. Can anybody tell me what are the features/performance that I would gain in combination with the new KX drivers? My old sound card is a SB Live! 5.1 SB0060.
Thanks! |
