Static background with microphone and ac97 in

HI everyone,

After hours of figuring out how to record sound with a microphone, this forum tells me that I should use AC97 record and put it to MIC. This works, and I dont hear myself. BUT: There is a static annoying background noise when I record. I have a very good microphone (and it worked absolutely clearly with creative drivers), so I think this is not the point.
I disabled ALL inputs (in the menus "In/Out" and in the AC97 menu), ecxept the AC97 input. Even if I dont talk and I record with Windows AudioRecorder, there is this static noise. It only disappears when I disable AC97 input, but unfortunately I need this

Can anyone help me ? My configuration is: SB Live Player 5.1:

Rear Out: ------------
Front Out: goes to the speakers of my headset
Mic in: The microphone
Line In: Comes from my TV-Tuner Card
Digital Out: Goes to Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500 Control Center

I´m looking forward to your answers Thx a lot

perhaps you need to lower ac97 level, turn on/off mic boost etc...
make sure you leave all the ac97 sliders 'as-is' (except 'ac97 source')
if this doesn't solve your problem, post your hardware/software configuration displayed by the 'about...' dialog box of the kX mixer

Also, try to hit the "reset ac97 settings" button in the ac97 tab (and after that, selecting mic from the dropdown)

I know this is an old post but I also am getting Static from my mic

I've configured my settings EXACTLY like the instructions here describe: http://kb.kxproject.lugosoft.com/guide/setup-mic.html

I'm getting static in the background of my microphone.

I have a SB0060 5.1 LIVE and i'm getting all the symptoms of the first guy.
