kx SoundBlaster + Vista 5.1 problems

Hey all,

I just installed the kX package on my Vista machine running a SoundBlaster Audigy card with the following config:

----Hardware / Software configuration---------------
Driver Name:kX Audio Driver (Debug)
Driver Date: Apr 5 2008 03:04:18
Driver Version: 5.10.00.3541 - debug
DB Name:LiveBay2
SB0162 10k2 [8800]

Install went OK (although had to do the manual install through safe mode, in Device Manager the card now identifies correctly as a kX device).

However I cannot seem to get 5.1 working with my Logitech speaker system.

I set the Surrounder to 5.1, and Surround to On.

Here is a list of strange occurances I have noticed.

Problem no. 1: The speakers do not show up in Sound>Playback Devices so I cannot test them easily, I think I read somewhere that this will happen with Vista and kX. Inside kX Mixer, Speaker Test plays an error sound and a "Failed to create sound" message (the sound comes through all speakers, not just the one clicked).

Problem no. 2: In Surrounder, if I tick 'Use Subwoofer Output', then ALL speakers will stop other than the Sub and Center speaker.

Problem no. 3: 5.1 TV Shows/Movies will not play in 5.1. Instead it sounds like the front stereo is being replicated to the back speakers and center speaker.

Problem no. 3: A 6-channel test track I downloaded does not play correctly at all: i.e. what is supposed to be "Front left" comes only out of the center speaker etc etc.

It seems like kX is either not detecting the 5.1 or not using it properly, if anyone could assist that would be great.

Thanks.

*NOTE: the sole purpose for which I installed kX was because I need to reverse the sound from the front left and right front speakers in my system and I could not seem to find any other hardware or software solution, if anyone can recommend me one I will have no need for the kX drivers so this problem may be moot.

*edit*

Problem 4: One further thing, when my Xbox360 is connected via Optical (and set to use Dolby Digital 5.1) using the card's inbuilt S/PDIF AC3 decoder, there is no sound apart from the initial xbox startup sound (which is not AC3 as far as I know which is why it plays fine). When it is set to Digital Stereo, it works fine.

*further edit*

Updated to 3545, nothing was fixed.
