Recording from the Stereo Mix...denied!

Well, when I used my SBLive! drivers, it came with Surround Mixer which had
the quick & easy "What U Hear" setting...kX Project however has Stereo Mix
which of course is the same thing, except it doesn't seem to work.At all...

Somebody give me a hand here, I've tried 3538 & 3541 & neither work.
3538 = Loud noise whenever Stereo Mix is selected.
3541 = Absolutely nothing when it's selected.

I tried just using Surround Mixer, but unfortunately, it has to find an SBLive!,
not the kX Wave Out SB022 ect, ect...
Thanks in advance folks.

EDIT:Nevermind, I found a solution...I will share it here for future reference...
The newest version of the kX Project seems to have fixed it all by itself.
Have a look here -> http://www.hardwareheaven.com/general-...ion-3545b.html

1st - glad to see you fixed your problem - but - the stereo mix (assuming you mean the one in the drop down in kX Mixer AC97) - is *not* the same thing as the 'What You Hear' setting in CL drivers.

That stereo mix only applies to AC97 based inputs selected (which then could affect what is recorded - when AC97 level on the RECORD page is adjusted) - but does not include wave playback audio, as does the WUH setting in CL drivers.

Yeah, all I mean is, Stereo Mix in the AC97 menu thing of the mixer, is the
setting I use to make it record the same thing I'm hearing from my speakers
like I did with the What U Hear setting in the Creative Surround Mixer.
So maybe it's not exactly the same, but they both record what you hear.

the "Stereo Mix" setting is simply a mix of all the AC97 inputs only - Line 1, Mic 1, TAD, Aux 1 - nothing else - if you want to record what you're hearing, in the record page set the "Wave" fader

You sure?Cause when I set it to that, my mic doesn't record, nor does line in, ect...
It's also what I've used on various soundcards via their main volume control in Windows
on a multitude of different soundcards varying in brand, onBoard, PCI, ect...
Not to mention, this setting does record what I'm hearing.Flawlessly.
Stereo Mix is not recording from the Mic or Line In, I'm pretty sure it means the
stereo output, that of which also goes to your speaker jack on the soundcard.

Re: Recording from the Stereo Mix...denied!

in the kX Mixer RECORD page... you set recording levels (AC97, Wave, FX etc..) The AC97 page settings is sort of a 'sub mix' of just ac97 based physical inputs - that stereo mix setting will affect both, what comes out the speakers *and* what can be recorded - but before that can be recorded, the RECORD PAGE levels must be set also.

Re: Recording from the Stereo Mix...denied!

When the AC97 source is Stereo Mix/Mono Mix, you have to enable/unmute each AC97 source that you want to record, at the bottom of the AC97 page of kxmixer.

On some card models it does function like what you hear recording (i.e. with my SB0228, the default codec setting for AC97MIX includes the DAC signal, thus records what I hear (from analog front)). On other card models, you would have to unmute/adjust all of the sliders on the Recording page of kxmixer (in addition to the sliders at the bottom of the AC97 page).
