exclamation Creative releases x-fi driver source code!!!

JUST THOUGHT THIS WAS APPROPRIATE TO POST HERE! WOOHOO!
you can go see for yourself - heres a link to google'ing it if your too lazy

x-fi driver source - Google Search

Okay, so...now the KX guys cant say we have no support because there is no source code - this'll be great because while i own a few LIVE cards, i have an x-fi which sounds alot clearer, and i'd really like support for it. I'd be willing to PAY for a driver for it that'd work with soundfonts.
NB*** I dont believe this driver includes the recently released pci-express version of the card.... that's an oddball card that doesnt (at the moment) contain soundfont support at all - it's also the same chip integrated on enthusiast mainboards... grrrr where is my s/f support creative...!

P.s. I will help bug test, possibly provide a sample, etc, if need be... I'd love to hear the fm-synth-soundfont thing i made have a go at KX on the NEW emu chip weeee! I cannot use KX here because i have 4gb of ram in my system which breaks the KX driver.
I am not selfish just wanting this driver for myself - i just fell in love with KX it's a shame there is no way to use it with 4gb of ram-or an x-fi (you just get static, altho the midi does work, the wave sound doesnt).
Also, if anyone wants to check out my s/f that is 100% real-instrument free, and gives you some nostalgia back to the FM days, all in a 5mb file... email me at [nocouch / hotmail dot com] (take out the spaces, i put them in to fool the web crawlers!) I only want feedback/constructive criticism in return...

I don't remember any of "kX guys" said anything like this.
here's E's position:

here's my vision:

who knows... maybe one fine day Eugene will find himself interested in writing X-Fi driver
- but i would not hope for it too much.

Wink Re: Creative releases x-fi driver source code!!!

lol, I would love to have E on X-Fi side (so modern hardwares without PCI don't miss kx) however, I will never want E to delay on OSX side for this one...

Is there a single motherboard that doesn't have at least one PCI slot?

For now, but in future (2 years from now) you will not find any mobos with PCI slot on it (source TheInquirer.net) though there may be some dudes from taiwan who may implement PCI on new mobo ... If you look at Creative's side of new card releases, they are also pretty much pci-e rather then PCI only (which also indicates fewer chances)

EDIT: I say when such time comes, E will automatically add that future time's popular card... (or maybe even X-Fi, if it lives the expectation of popularity who knows? )

Well, who knows that it won't be C-Media Oxygen?
