Re: Sony vaio VGN-LT39U

Do you mean VGC-LT39U?

If so, the spec sheet for that model just shows Intel® High Definition Audio, and the driver shown for that model is SigmaTel ® High Definition Audio CODEC (I could not find anything more specific, and the download link appears to be broken).

No, there is more than one SigmaTel® High Definition Audio CODEC, so without knowing the specifics, it would be difficult to locate a driver that is not offered by the OEM.

What you would probably have to do is:

Find out the specific SigmaTel chip used by your system.
Locate another system that uses the same exact chip, and came with Windows XP.
Download the driver for that system (and hope that that installation utility does not do any system checks, and allows you to install it).

In any case, this section of the forum is for the kX Audio driver, such questions are better asked in another part of the forum.

Re: Sony vaio VGN-LT39U

It looks like it came with WinVista... Is Vista still installed?
If so, maybe the Vista Hardware/Device manager has more specifics about what chip is used... ??
Or Maybe if you look at the Disc's that came with that PC has some more info
(Look at the .inf files with a text editor, maybe there's some additional info about it)

Perhaps a PDF file came with those discs that gives details about the hardware..??

If you can open it up and look at the motherboard, maybe a chip is marked 'Sigmatel' and has a Part # that can be googled..??

Long shots perhaps... maybe call Sony and ask them if no one here can help.
