you have 2 options... use the ac97 stereo mix option, or use 2 pan x2 (is mono to stereo) plugins in the dsp connected to the ac97 prolog line, and then use a 1/4 stereo jack to dual tulp cable (is dual tulp the correct english name?).
then you will have 2 mono inputs. |

In that case, first you tell me exactly what you want... if you want to record mic and guitar simutaniously, with standard wave recording, and not asio recording, then just use the stereo mix in ac97 (ac97 tab in the mixer, and from the pulldown menu, chooice stereo mix, unmute line in and mic in, start recording)
for the mono thing, there are also 2 options... use a mono cable, and record that, and later, split the right chan and left chan in some audio program (wavelab/cooledit/samplitude/soundforge), or use 2 asio recording channels... if you want to go for simple, then just record and split... if you want to go for difficult (asio) then start learning how the dsp works :-) |

When you open the mixer, on the left side, you have 7 buttons, output (a speaker), an i/o button (with a hardware card), recording (speaker with the red recording dot), ac97, FX (reverb and chorus effects), soundfonts (f) and the analyzer (showing the hardware voices in use, green = asio, blue = ac3, red = winmm/directsound and midi also has a color wich I forgot... the height of the bar is the sound volume output... this is NOT a spectrum analyzer)
anyways, you want the 4th button, there you will have a drop down menu with line in, mic in, etc, etc... you want to select stereo mix, then unmute mic and line in. |

k, what card do you have then?
Happens to be an asp card? those don't have ac97 inputs... (maybe you have a livedrive kinda thing? in that case, everything changes) |

I have Emu APS CArd
Hello
My Soundcard is EMU Auto production Studio (APS) . After i installed Windows XP the originall Driver did not work so i had to use KX-Projekt. I hope you can help me. I have a problem with the driver too .When i want to Record the Voice is like a Echo(Delay) .I think something is wrong with the driver too . I use ´the latest version of KX. Thank you again !! K, first, I must say I have no experience with the ASP cards, but let me try...
It is correct that you don't have an ac97, ASP cards dont have those, they use I2C codecs. I take it, that, when you use the recording tab on the mixer, you can record both line in and mic, at the same time. If you realy want true multitrack recording (stereo), you really should use asio recording instead of simple wave recording... (in a program like samplitude or cubase) However... if you can record both lines at the same time, but mixed, then the solution is simple, simply pan the mic input allthe way to the left in the recording tab (unclick the "linked" button) and the line in, all the way to the right. thatway, the left signal on wave recording is mic, and right is guitar. The other solution, wich is essentially the same, is, instead of using PANx2, use 2 monomix plugins in the dsp window. That way you can get mono signals from the stereo inputs on the prolog (mic and line in) Routing them to the recording on the epilog (or router) But this is totally the same as using panning (if your mic and guitar are mono that is... and most are) aaanyways, bottomline of this, use panning or user asio, the latter is prefered, because that will probably also fix the echo you are seeing. That echo might be from effects or wave output recording btw... slide everything down in the recording tab, exept master and mic/line... also, be sure to not output the mic in the i/o tab (2nd button) cause then your mic will pick up the things coming out of your speakers... (wich is also echo/delay/feedback) |
