Multi-Track Recording - KX DSP Confusion......

Ive been reading the postings of many people, confused by the kxDSP routing, including myself. Theres got to be a simpler way to do this.

Perhaps it would help to have:

Multiple routing solution screenshots posted on the website

with detailed written routing instructions. I think there needs to be a centralized source for routing possibility instructions.

In my situation, Im trying to record a standalone software synth (utilizing KX asio), while playing to a drum loop in acid. Acid does not want to ulilize the asio driver concurently with the software synth standalone. If Acid is put into "classic Wave driver" mode in the audio preferences, the audio of the drum track is routed onto the recorded standalone software synth track.

Is there a way to hear the drum track but not record it, hear the software synth and record its audio in acid?

Also by the default kx routing, acid does not want to "monitor" the line in signal without being manually adjusted in kxDSP - Can we clarify whats the optimum routing for that?

Solution.......s.......

7 hours to find this solution.

Its a great solution, but how many people are going to spend 7 hours to find a solution like this? I guess if you want the solution bad enough, the fix will appear!

Notes for Acid and KX DSP Routing

ACID
To achieve Vocals/LineIn/Audio In Left / Software Synth Right, With Drum Loop Playing but not being recorded:

In Acid, set Audio Driver for "Classic Wave Driver"
In the Mixer, set the Master Drop-Down to "KX Wave 6/7"

In your software synth Standalone, Set it for KX asio

go into the KX DSP window and Set:

FX Bus 6/7 to Xrouting in 0 and 1 (So you can hear it)

(The Left/Right Settings below are arbitrary, that is to say, you can swap them if you want)

on Xrouting RecL, Disconnect it
on xrouting RecR, Connect it to Epilog RecR

In the KX Mixer, On the "Recording" Page, Activate the ac97 Record slider Channel-Split Button, and Mute/Inf The Right Channel Slider (Removes Residual Noise on the Keyboard Track);
Set the Left Channel Slider to 100

In the Kx Mixer, On the "AC 97" Page, Set the AC97 Dropdown to "LineIn"
In the Kx Mixer, On the "AC 97" Page, Make the Line In Sliders active and set to your volume choice (allows you to monitor the line in/Vocal, 0 setting gives least ammount of noise)

Dont forget to save the settings to a unique file as you go along!

I use this setup for quickly coming up with improvised drum grooves on the fly, while recording audio and Keyboard parts simultaneously. The idea is to set up the drum grooves very quickly (drag and drop), improvise and come up with ideas, yet capture the recording with some quality. After recording your keyboard parts and audio (For instance, singing and recording a software synth piano part at the same time to a drum track), you can now separate the stereo file into mono and fly them individually into cubase or any multitrack recording software.

Cubase and Acid do not want to run concurrently using the kx asio driver on my system, so i must close one and start the other. Not a problem.
