Default Post KX dies?

I'm using kx drivers few years, mostly for mixing and playing music, with that dsp i can reach bass sound better than with anything else. Dsp details are my secret. But that's not the point.
I need to use more than 3GB ram, and want to avoid problems with "compatibility tricks" and trouble at Vista 32 SP1. So i need fully 64bit XP/Vista for that, as you expect kx doen't support 64 bit.
I'm sure there are so many ppl like me, who reading only that forum, and says: "there are no 64 bit version, kx's died", and looking for something else.
Open your eyes Eugen, there is only one way for kx drivers survive - 64 bit.
Best regards, from a loyal user.

Ответ: KX dies?

hmm, well, i always wonder if i'm the only person thinking:
<<kX was finished in 2003 when all the features planned had been finally implemented. The rest is just a little bonus. Noone is going to push it for newer and newer OSes - it simply makes no sense and actually starts to smell like necrophilia. All those buzz-words like "kX dies, need to survive" sound just fun - do you think someone would spend his whole life for bothering with an ancient hardware designed 500 years ago? Why? It was interesting in 1999 or 2003, but today it is not... Move forward, noone cares if you use kX or not (why would anyone?). Again, the projects of such kind don't have a properties like "dead" or "alive" they can only be finished ("planned features are implemented") or not ("planned features are not implemented yet"). This one is finished. Use it if it suits your needs and don't if it does not. There's no room for global pathetic slogans.>>

Not for me. I am using XP till I can no more, and the results I get from my A2ZS are spectacular.
Rock on KX!

That's great. If you need something, ask Eugene what would he want in return to implement it. Why would he bother coding a free driver that suits your needs?

Or, buy another card. There is so much great non-Creative hardware. My Audigy is dying (has been a while, no wonder), and I plan on doing something like that.

Re: KX dies?

Since I got some old 10k1 and 10k2 cards for nearly nothing and Iґm able to pimp the cards with digital and analog I/O, I stay with kX until the last card will end up in smoke
The performance is quite good enough for my needs.

Re: KX dies?

I love my 1820M, it has good converters and everything I need. I also love the freedom the KX dsp used to give me and I've used great sounding dsp fx chains that I've been unable to reproduce with vst plugins. It also has uses that have a place in a modern project studio like having a dedicated monitoring reverb and Max your sa+ is a real practical application (or at least it would be everything were ported to the mac). I'm sick to death of the eternal frustrations of the windows platform and I'm chuffed to not have to sell my 1820m and will quietly and patiently (foolishly) await recording and the kx api. It's a real shame the E could not open source part of the project as we was going to do at one stage as I feel it would have lived on and advanced fast enough to stay more current. It has great live applications. Soundfonts with fx chains in realtime. When you trying to play fast keyboard lines, there's a huge different between low latency vstis and "next to no latency" soundfonts. It's just like playing a real keyboard. Vsti even @ 2ms do not feel the same. Sound wise, I've had my mates nord electro 2 rhodes patch up against my KX soundfont fx chain (70mb j3rhodes.sf2->tremeo->compressor->efxTubedrive->efxReverb) and everyone said the kx sound won hands down. The nord is supposed to be the best in the industry!

Long Live KX!

haha just kidding

"await recording and the kx api"

do you mean OS X driver?
if yes, API is already out - but I noticed no volunteers to re-implement kX DSP functionality over kX API under OS X...

I'm planning to spend some time in July and August on implementing full recording support for OS X...

Doug W: the funniest thing is, before kX I started a DOS driver for my AWE64 and, later, for SBLive
I did not make any releases, but it was a nice start

I'm guessing those projects aren't too high on the priority list these days.

Thanks Eugene
