kxdriver microphone window 7

hey i was just wondering if some one could help me please i have the same problem where window 7 doesnt work to well with the creative lab drivers so i installed kxdriver and they work totaly fine but i cant seem to find out how to make my microphone to work.. as i rather need the mic to work for gameing. and well you cant use the kxmixer on window 7 what sucks i was just wondering if any one, else knew a way that you can make it so your mic works with window 7 many thanks

The mixer you can get to work by running it in Vista compability mode which is the first thing you should try whenever you experience application incompability in Windows 7. The mic I don't know about since I haven't tried getting it to work other than in XP but I'm planning on installing Windows 7 RC build in the next few days and see if I can get the mic working as well in the meantime.

yeah i did that before made it run in vista mode the kxmixer but when i do that the full sound totaly stops :s and when i restart the pc it comes up with a other error on about how something drivers :S? thanks for the reply mate

I was never able to get proper sound in Win7 with either KXdrivers, which don't support win7, nor the creative drivers..... (the ones supplied with win7 would cause a bsod on reboot) The "workaround" of compatibility mode with KXmixer worked sometimes and sometimes not. Even when it worked I had very distorted sound and couldn't record with any channel. (mic/line/aux.... etc.) Win7 isn't necessarily going to support older hardware like the Live!/Audigy cards.

I went back to what works....... XP

Interesting .... Ty I have Vista (32 bit) installed on the Cele machine wondering if it might be worth dual booting with XP to eliminate driver issues with the SB Live card in it?

Seems vista is okay, but I see a lot of guys having problems with Win7. I use the KX drivers exclusively and they were written for XP and earlier OS... vista support is even "beta" there but works (from what I've read, I don't own vista)

One thing about KX drivers it there seems to be a 2gig memory limit which doesn't effect my systems because I've either 1 or 2 gig in the three systems I have setup for my music production with multiple creative cards and KX drivers in them.

If you are using creative's or YouPax drivers these things probably don't apply, vista should be fine, but the flexibility of KX rules...... especially with dual cards and the access to DSP plugins.

I wouldn't suggest Win7 for the Cele machine though.

OK thanks for the feedback and I really haven't had time to do any recording yet. I just don't want glitches I hate recording a good track just to have it messed up in the recording process.

I have the PAX drivers installed now might try the KX I haven't tried them in a while.

np mate its all good a other thing that annoys me is i cant play lineage 2 since it has gameguard GRRRRRRRRR annoying i should go back to window xp but im to lazy to reinstall ooh well thanks for all the replys people just woke up my brain is still asleep cant think what to say
