I installed the latest kX Project driver and the variable volume indicator graphic is missing from both my TV and VCD skins while using the more recent MMC from ATI (8.1.0.0 and 8.5.0.0). The graphic is displayed when using the CD, DVD, or File Player but not in TV or VCD mode. Likewise, when using the latest 8.5.0.0 ATI drivers and Remote Wonder 1.5 (with EAZYLOOK), I cannot control the volume with the remote for either of these two applications either.
I am using an older Soundblaster 5.1 Live on a MSI K7D Master-L (SMP) motherboard and an ATI 8500DV. I decided to try the kX drivers because Soundblaster support for us dualie owners is less than zero. I am aware of a potential conflict between some ATI All-In-Wonder video cards and the Audigy line but I'm not sure if this extends to the older Soundblaster cards. When I install the ATI drivers on a virgin Windows XP installation and use the TV feature for the first time, the Initialization Wizard walks me through various set-up options -- including choosing which soundcard input I want to use for the sound-out from the video card. After installing the kX drivers, this option is missing when I rerun the Wizard. I'm not sure if these two problems are related, or whether there is a solution or not. The kX Mixer is a little daunting to the average newbie and I'm not quite sure where to start. Is there a way of bringing back the full functionality of the ATI MMC volume control for the TV and VCD modes? |
