RECORDING DD5.1 In VISTA, possible?

OS: VISTA ULTIMATE SP1
SOUND: AUDIGY1 (SB0090)
KX DRIVER Version 5.10.0.3541

XBOX360(DD5.1) -> AUDIGY1 SPDIF IN

XP SP3: RECORD DD5.1 -> convert wav to ac3(use ex_bs.exe) -> play ac3 -> I CAN HEAR 5.1 SOUNDS

BUT

VISTA ULTIMATE SP1: RECORD DD5.1 -> can't convert wav to ac3(use ex_bs.exe) -> play ac3 ->no sounds

what's wrong?

ex_bs.exe works good in vista, no problem.

don't work direct SPDIF recording in vista?

my english is not good. sorry

Re: RECORDING DD5.1 In VISTA, possible?

Hi,

Yeah, I was trying to do the same thing as you. By "use ex_bs.exe" you the besplit program?

At first using my Audigy 2 ZS in my main system that had Vista Ultimate 32bit and 8GB or memory.
Didn't have much luck recording Dolby Digital 5.1 from Xbox 360.
So, I'm building a cheap extra system with 4GB memory and will be using Windows XP Pro 32bit.

I think the issue is that the Kx drivers don't work too well in Vista.
All I could suggest is stick with Windows XP.

Also, what program are you using to record the Xbox 360 Dolby Digital 5.1 stream when direct SPDIF recording is enabled in XP?

Re: RECORDING DD5.1 In VISTA, possible?

Are you sure it's not just a matter of having an AC3 encoder/decoder codec for Vista?
