Cannot use Mic for recording or using Skype

Hello. I'm a newbie and have problems with setting microphone to working. When I speaking in microphone, I hear myself but when I try to record my voice it is not records. In Skype noone can here me too. With original drivers all was working well.

Unmute the AC97 Recording Level slider on the Recording page of kxmixer and set the level to 0 dB. Also make sure that the MIC is selected as the AC97 source on the AC97 page of kxmixer.

Hi Russ I wonder if you could help me with my problem, I also have problem using my mic with ventrilo software. I can hear my friends but they dont hear me when I talk in ventrilo. I can hear myself in my speakers when I unmute the mic in Kxmixer so I dont understand why they cant hear me. When I unmute the AC97 Recording Level slider on the Recording page of kxmixer and close it down. I go back to the recording slider and it has muted it self back. Any help plz?

Make sure that you click on the little gray circle below the slider to unmute it (it should turn blue... just moving the slider does not unmute it). Then adjust the level (if it reads "inF" after you move the slider up, then it is still muted).

Beyond the above, I do not know, I cannot think of any other reason why it would go back to being muted when returning to the page, unless it was never really unmuted.

Ok fixed!!! Done what you wrote, just need to test it on ventrilo with my friends I will let you know how I get on. Thanks for your POST hope it works.

I had the same problem as the person that started this thread. But changing the settings did not help. I can't select "mic" in my control panel; it does not exist. Does this matter? I can either select the "0/1" option or "HQ" option, under sounds in my control panel for the recording options.

No that does not matter... Just set it to 0/1 (do the same in any VOIP software).

I changed all the settings mentioned here and on a guide to setting up the mic at the kx project website, but the mic doesn't work. Is there any thing else it could be? My 0/1 input device is "wave in" under sound recording in control panel and not "mic." Is this also insignificant?

I installed new drivers, now I think it works. Funny I had a feeling some one was going to suggest that eventually.

I'm too have problem with microphone, i hear myself but record not working and in skype my friends not hear me. I trying all possible solutions, but its not working

KX drivers 3550 on Sound Blaster Live 5.1 0220
Windows 7 Ultimate with 3 gb RAM

P.S. After some experiments i can setup my microphone. I just delete in dsp manager prolog and fx with reverb and chorus and turn on button gain in ac97 window

Now test in skype went off well
