AC3 decode and send to outputs

Hello, I want to use 4 digital amplified speakers to play AC3.

I have :
- 4x speakers with S/PDIF inputs (with built-in amplifier)
- a sound blaster with 3x S/PDIF outputs (onboard, cabled and working)
- PowerDVD
- Vista

I want to decode AC3 that come from PowerDVD :
- AC3 front (+ Sub) -> 1 PCM stereo channel -> onboard S/PDIF output 0 -> Speakers 1+2
- AC3 rear -> 1 PCM stereo channel -> onboard S/PDIF output 1 -> Speakers 3+4

Any idea? I have tried kX modules, but I didn't find how to do.

Thanks

Re: AC3 decode and send to outputs

Hmm, I do not know whether kX supports AC3 decoding currently with Vista or not. In any case, you are probably better off just letting PowerDVD decode it, and then use kX DSP to do the routing.

Re : Re: AC3 decode and send to outputs

OK it works

Settings are SPDIF only, 4.1 speakers and AC3 decoding. With PowerDVD I hear front, sub and center in front speakers (connected to onboard SPDIF0) and rear in rear speakers (connected to onboard SPDIF1).

I still have a pops problem that I think is related to some samples buffer size. i have created a new post for that.

Re: AC3 decode and send to outputs

Did you end up using kX or PowerDVD for the decoding?

Re : Re: AC3 decode and send to outputs

I think PowerDVD sends the AC3 to the default Vista SPDIF/AC3 output (Dolby checked in Vista sound param) and kx decodes because I see the kx AC3 popup.

Re: AC3 decode and send to outputs

I was just curious because as I said before, I do not know whether kX's AC3 decoder is supported/works currently under Vista, so it is good to know that it is working for you, etc.
