Run as Service?
I have my mixer configured exactly how I want it. But, I don't like how it relies on starting up to apply the settings, so I was thinking...
Is there a way to launch the kXMixer as a service? So settings get applied before(or as) the user logs in? I have a Custom startup sound, that's in 5.1. It works wonderfully, when it plays after the kXMixer has started up and applied settings, but it usually plays before, and it only plays through my primary speakers. I am using Windows 7 (Windows 7 is VERY much Alike Vista, so please treat this as a Vista thread) |

Ответ: Run as Service?
(i guess me to answer).
Basically, no, there's not. A "before login service" has a lot of constraints - so you can't run the mixer as it is now as such service. And even if theoretically it is possible to rewrite the mixer to meet "before login" constraints - that would put too many restrictions on the kxmixer plugin architecture making it nearly undoable - i.e. it's the way to kill "my mixer configured exactly how I want". (well, not even mentioning that whatever startup beep would not worth a major rewrite )

>It should only be done after it's been configured to the user's likings
the key here is that a service won't be able to apply the settings w/o plugins (as many settings are actually handled by plugins).
