Question about CMSS support
I have heard about the kX drivers for a while now, never really thought of getting them since I never had a problem with my creative drivers. I recently decided to update my creative drivers due to a DJ program I use not working correctly. On the newest update I do not have a systray icon anymore for my creative volume control which when double clicked would bring up a bunch of options. First does the kX driver come with a systray option for its control panel, and secondly do the drivers work the same way with cmss as creatives do? I have a pretty old set of speakers, but I love them. 4.1 Boston acoustics that connect with just one 3.5mm cable to the subwoofer using the digital line out connection. I like using cmss stereo surround, since it makes music sound normal, but played on all 4 speakers. Thanks, and sorry for the long post

Re: Question about CMSS support
What card model do you have? Do you know if it is supported by kX?
What OS are you using? There may be some issues related to this. Do you have more than 2GB RAM? There are some issues related to this. What DJ program are you using? Do you know if it works OK with kX? I do not know, you should probably look through the forum and see if there are any issues that will rule out kX for you. You should probably take a look at the docs as well, to get an idea of how kX works, etc. kX does have a systray icon that can open it's mixer among other things. kX does not have Creative CMSS, but it does have it's own upmixing/downmixing capabiliites, or you can create your own via custom DSP configs or plugin programming (if such things interest you). If your speakers are connected to the digital out jack, then they either do there own upmixing internally (in which case CMSS should not make much difference), or they are using more than one digital output. Either way, they should work OK with kX. Beyond the above, all you can do is try it and see if you like it. |
