SBLive Value 16bit pci card in Windows 7 x86
Hello,
I'm trying to get my SBLive Value 16bit PCI card to work in 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. After much searching I realized that Creative F'd their customer base and doesn't create such drivers. Windows Update also does not carry any type of 'generic' drivers like they do with Video cards... (heck my dual monitors worked in full 32-bit color without installing ANY ATI drivers)! So I stumbled across the kxdrv3541-full.exe off of a google search. I installed it but all of the sounds were loud piercing static, blips and screeching noises. So I went to uninstall it. I got a BSOD of STOP: 0x08E. I rebooted back to Windows XP (where I am typing this from) and everything simply works in XP with Creative's drivers of course. The thing is, I was never able to get Vista or Windows 7 to be stable on this PC. I could never figure out why... all of my BSOD's pointed to memory. Memtest ran for over 8 hours with no problems, plus XP works like a champ. I even got a new Corsair power supply. I don't overclock or anything... Here's my specs: AMD 3700+ CPU ASUS A8N5X socket 939 motherboard 3GB RAM (2x512mb Corsair, 2x1GB OCZ) ATI X800 Video Card WD320 GB PATA HD WD500 GB SATA HD SB Live Value OEM 16-Bit PCI Sound Card Corsair 520Watt power supply So now I'm thinking the instabilities are sound card related. After installing Win7, the OS was stable and fast. It wasn't until I started messing with the SB Live card that it became very unstable. I don't remember what I did when I tried Vista on here. I can't remember if I forced the XP drivers, or used some kind of generic drivers. But today is the first I've heard of these kx drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Re: SBLive Value 16bit pci card in Windows 7 x86
Thanks I installed that driver and I got the same thing. Sounds like buzzing, ear piercing static, machine guns, repetitive glitch noises, etc...
Did more research online and found there may be a bug with this card and more than 2GB ram. So I took out my 2x512mb corsair sticks and now my sound works. Only thing is that the bass is a little loud and I can't use the Bass and Treble sliders in Win7. They are stuck at -32768.0 and don't budge if I try to slide them to the right or left. |

Isn't kxdrv3541-full.exe way tooooo old for Windows 7. Why don't you try the current version of the driver? 3549?
