3550 released - x86 and x64

hi guys!

version 3550 is out!

changes:

* fixed issues with '>2Gb memory' PCs (thanks to Markus thrillhouse82 and Javier Gonzales)
* fixed issue with add-ons on multidevice configurations (E-DSP Control, menu_idx)
* fixed issue with kX Console unable to launch from the tray
* fixed 'slow tooltips' issue in kX DSP
* fixed 'no labels' issue in kX DSP

known issues:
* soundfonts may not work properly, because sfman32.dll requires kxapi.dll, which is no longer in the system32 folder. Add kX folder to your PATH to solve the problem
* as earlier, 'speaker test' will NOT work in Vista/Windows7
* you may need to increase kX buffer size in Windows7/Vista to avoid clicks

please post your bug reports here

download:

x86 version (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7): kxdrv3550-x86-full.exe
x64 version (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7): kxdrv3550-x64-full.exe

Re: 3550 released - x86 and x64

Thank you, E, for all your hard work.

Installed flawlessly on an old dual PIII SB0060 Live! system I'm running XP/Win7 on. I can't test more than 2 gig but all else runs great in both XP and Windows 7. (I did tweak buffers as I had to in 3548..... didn't even test it at stock settings)

Many thanks again!

EDIT: Thanks to the team as well! Great!

Wow, thanks very much for your nice work, Eugene.

Tested with a SB Live! 5.1 under Win 7 x64 with 6GB RAM. It works but I have to find the optimal buffer size settings to get rid of the clicks.

Work Fine In Windows 7 X64 4GB SB0060. Work perfectly with VirtualDJ but I have to find the optimal buffer size settings to get rid of the clicks on sound for S.O.

First of all: Great work, Eugene.
You are - the BEST!
Thanks a lot for your hard work.

Win 7 x64 / 4Gb Ram /Live 5.1 PCI VEN_1102&DEV_0002&REV_07/ wave out 4/5. All works fine without any tuning, except microphon (still no sound at venrilo). But it`s trifle.

Спасибо, Вам, большое, Евгений.

Hello,

good work, everything i need works fine on my Win 7 64 bit, except the record level is too low. On 100% i get only around 70% amplitude.

Greetings

Re: 3550 released - x86 and x64

Thanks Eugene, happy to have kx again!

I'm having an odd problem though... The ASIO Control Panel will not open, and no kx ASIO drivers are listed in any of my audio apps. All the DirectSound ones are enumerated however. I was wondering if it was to do with hardware acceleration since windows 7 disabled "hardware enhancements" or something of that nature when I was using the Creative drivers, but I can't even locate a way to check if acceleration is turned on or not. In any event, I'm running:
Windows 7 x64 RC
4GB RAM
AMD 8650 x3 (2.3 GHz)
Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro

Anyone know how to fix this?

I'm not getting bad latency, but I'd still prefer ASIO.

Thanks,

Chris

Re: 3550 released - x86 and x64

MAN I both hate and love you right now! Why?

Because I just today like couple of hrs ago I got my new socket 1156 upgrade up and running and I bought some crappy 2GB (2x1GB) Corsair 1600 CL9 kit only because of kX had this >2GB RAM issue. Wasn't expecting the fix to arrive exactly now. lol

Oh well the good news is the bug is FINALLY fixed, thx so much for this, I'll need to grab a proper 2x2GB ram kit and sell this crap now. ^^

Re: 3550 released - x86 and x64

@ixemul

It works fine for me with Windows XP, but someone mentioned the same problem with 3548 and Windows Vista, so maybe it only effects Vista/Windows 7? In any case, his solution was to manually register the kxasio.dll, so you may want to give that a try.

See the 2nd and 3rd posts in the '3548 bug reports - X86 ONLY' thread.

Re: 3550 released - x86 and x64

Hi. Works fine with win7 4gb of ram. However, since 3541, WaveOUTHQ is not working any more, if i select it as playback device in any player (like windows media player classic) it says that it can't open device. Am i doing smth wrong or that is a known issue ?

WaveHQ: I cannot test it anymore, since I don't have p16v-based devices... check debugging output of the driver, check the settings in Windows audio control panel (format, number of channels), this might be related to a change in Windows (after SP1 in Vista or smth).

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\kX Audio Driver\3550\kxasio.dll"

Note: I think for 64 bit you should use regsvr32.exe from the \Windows\system32 directory and not the one in the \Windows\syswow64 directory (which I think is for 32 bit dll's).

In control panel, when i check the properties of the WAVEHQ device, the levels tab is empty, there are no sliders, nothing.
Where can i turn on debugging, since i cannot find any option? I would be glad to help.

get DebugView from Microsoft DebugView for Windows
the driver should print some diagnostic messages
errors are usually marked with '!'
(note that other system and 3-rd party drivers may output some messages, too)
