Re: 3550 x64 probs with win7
Is there any chance making 64bit kxDriver work with 32 bit ASIO hosts?

Re: 3550 x64 probs with win7
It is just PATH, and it is a SYSTEM environment variable.
You can find more info in this thread (post# 6 & 7): http://www.hardwareheaven.com/general-...nt-studio.html |

Re: 3550 x64 probs with win7
Thanks a lot Russ. I got it now, but unfortunately it doesn't do me any good because I still have no ASIO in FL Studio, and ASIO4All doesn't help either. I wonder if the new Creative drivers might work. I Sure didn't want to retire my trusty Audigy ZS and SB Live cards just because of Windows 7 64.

Re: 3550 x64 probs with win7
FL Studio is not 64 bit, right?
Again, ASIO with kX x64 (currently) requires a 64 bit ASIO host. |

Re: 3550 x64 probs with win7
No, 64 bit Windows requires 64 bit device drivers... Maybe in the future E. will add 32 bit ASIO support to the 64 bit driver, but currently it is not supported.

Re: 3550 x64 probs with win7
OH now I see.. upgrading to Windows 7 64 from XP 32 is turning out to be more of a problem than it is worth.
Thanks for the info Russ.

Re: 3550 x64 probs with win7
Audio Card: Creative Audigy 2 ZS
OS: Windows 7 Professional x64 2GB memory Midi playback works absolutely not with this driver. Loaded a (working!, or at least it worked under Windows XP) sound font in the manager, but when I try to play, it sounds like random explosions mixed with electronical noise. It sounds somewhat like the midi I try to play, but it just hurts my ears. :P For about half a minute after I stop the playback, there is a remaining echo of the noise and lots of pops buzzers and clicks. I already tried to add the path of the Kx directory to the PATH of Windows, but to no avail. Apart form that, I also have a second problem using the surrounder (5.1). After reboot my pc, there is a metallic sound accompanying all sound. It is gone when I remove the surrounder settings. However, I need another reboot AFTER that to completely remove the sound in surround mode. After that reboot, it all functions like normal. Stranfgely enough, disabling the surrounder before rebooting the first time has no effect. It will still have the metallic sound if I try to put it back on 5.1. Even then I need another reboot for it to work. |

Re: 3550 x64 probs with win7
Ya I ended up switching to Win 7 32 bit.
Got every thing working fine now. For the average user, 64 bit just isn't worth the hassle with software, vst's and drivers. Audigy 2 ZS's are relatively cheap and fully functional in Win 7 32 with KX driver. I couldn't be happier with the audio performance from this combination. Oh and don't forget to use ProFX to make your own custom DSP configuration. KX+ Audigy 2 ZS Platinum+ProFX=Freakin Awesome!

Re: 3550 x64 probs with win7
Just to add.... about ProFX.... use the updated version..... not the included bundled version. (buggy) New versions can be found in this thread in the first post. NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97 Make sure you grab the correct version.
Glad you got everything sorted mobo......
