The clicks are back

I have an Audigy 2 card that, for some unknown reason, started to have a severe clicking problem a couple of years back when the Creative driver was used with Windows XP (32 bit). At the time I thought I had a faulty card but then found the KX Driver, loaded it, and the issue went away.

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and, whilst not as severe as the orginal clicking, I am now getting the odd sporadic click when I use the KX driver. I also tried the latest Creative driver and that gives me huge issues again.

My machine is a Dell Dimension 4600 with 2.5Gb of RAM. I tried taking out the extra 512Mb of RAM as I had read on these forums that there can be issues when more than 2Gb is used but that didnt have any effect.

Would welcome the thoughts and views of this esteemed forum.

Which output do you have set as default in win7 mixer? It's been found that master mixer produces these clicks/pops/distortion......

Re: The clicks are back

I had exactly the same problem. I was using Win7 x64 and thought they would go away once I switched to Win7 x86 but still the clicks and pops surfaced.

Changed the playback devices as follows

and now not only have the pops and clicks gone but almost equally as importantly music now comes out of all 5 speakers instead of just the front 2. I should make it clear that I am NOT using SPIDIF but it works.
