Help, game may be seeing kx as multiple devices
Hey guys, I'm trying to play the demo for FEAR 2 to make sure it works on my computer. At the start it gives me a "sound acceleration error".
After searching the net, many of the solutions other people used involved disabling other audio devices besides their sound card, like bluetooth headsets and even phone modems. kx, however, is my only device. I have other audio codecs and legacy drivers, I don't know if those would interfere. So I know kx divides up the card into 0/1, 2/3, and so on. Is that what could be causing the conflict? If so, is there a way I could disable everything except 0/1 and work around it? |

Disabling other devices would be to rule out possible hardware or driver conflicts. All the kX Wave devices refer to the same hardware and use the same driver. |

Re: Help, game may be seeing kx as multiple devices
Well, I uninstalled kx and installed the YouP Pax drivers (modified creative). The Fear 2 demo works with the Pax drivers.
When you looking in dxdiag with creative drivers, you see one sound tab. With Kx, you see sound 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. So I think this directx 9 game sees kx as multiple sound devices. Anyways, I finished the demo, and reinstalled KX, because I like how straight foward it is. Hopefully the conflict won't arise once I buy the retail version. But if it does, I hope someone can help me find away to eliminate devices 2 through 5. |

Well that was just my hypothesis. I guess there is a different issue that could keep the game from communicating with the Kx drivers?
Anyway, I'm going to pick up the retail version soon (really enjoyed the demo), and I'll bump this thread if that version didn't resolve the issues. |

Yeah, I do not know... I do not think that gaming was ever a big priority for kX, so...
If you still have problems, you might try using DebugView and see if kX reports any errors when trying to run the game, etc. |
